Corvettes Do Brainerd - EVOs Invited!
My friend belongs to a Suburban Corvettes of Minnesota club. On May 21st through 23rd, they have a track event at BIR (Brainerd International Raceway). In order to defray costs, guests are welcome to race/participate alongside the 'vettes.
Here is some info from their flier.
"...Schedule:
May 21, 2004
9:00 - Practice/Lapping/Tracktime
4:00 - Grudge Match Drag Racing
5:00 - Trackside Party
May 22, 2004
9:00 - 4 Low Speed Events
4:00 - Track Touring
5:00 - People's Choice Car Show
5:30 - Trackside Party
7:00 - Dinner and Trophy Presentation
May 23, 2004
9:00 - 4 High Speed Events
3:30 - Trophy Presentation
These events will be CLOSED EXHAUST. A decibel limit of 94, measured at the start/finish line will be the maximum allowable. If you are over the limit, you will not be able to participate.
SCCM also has driver school and practice days at BIR. Dates are May 13, August 4, and September 15, 2004.
Registrations will come out early April..."
Now, please do not ask me what Low and High speed events are, or exact definition of a Closed Exhaust, or how much it will cost, etc - I do not know. I just plan on attending May 3rd driver school and practice and the May 21-23 events.
I am not very good at organizing things so if anyone wants to do the honors I will put you in touch with the guy in charge of this event. All I know is that they want as many participants as possible, and I think this would be a fun time to get MN EVO owners together and see how we stack up against the mighty 'Vette both on the drag strip and on the track. Cheers.
Oh, and just in case - I am only going there for the beer...

What I will do, is to bump this thread once in a while and add any pertinent info I get, like registration, fees, etc. Then come May, I'll see you there... or not... Cheers

so 94dB threshhold must be pretty darn loud. Can you imagine what a 'vette would sound like without a muffler? My friend's '67 with OEM straight pipes is positively thunderous...
