People always complain about how ****ty other people are, but dont ever check themselves. I like how you "decided to let him know his place in the world." An RX-8 is no **** box grocery getter. If you felt that it was no competition then why even bother. You even said it your self that you were tired. His cockyness got him ****ed up, but you provoked him. I will be the first to admit that i mess around on the street with people, but why has it become such a rivalry between everyone on the street? Its all fun until someone looses an eye.
Dude, you need to lighten up.

I wouldn't stop if a car crashed that I was racing. All you need is a third car to tell the cops, "Those two guys were racing" and you're toast.

I remember that thread with a link to the BMW site where that guy died. The rest of the drivers were in the wind because getting caught racing is some serious stuff. Sucks for the guy who crashes, but I need to look out for number one.

So wait......

He was 50 feet, 50 feet inf ront of you, when he lost control? So he lost control, smashed into a tree, and you saw him punching his steering wheel and his friend laughing at him? First of all, if you were moving at all at any speed you would have been too far past him to see what was happening in the cockpit of the RX-8. Even if you were going 20 mph, you would be traveling 30 feet per second, and it two seconds you would have been equal to if not past the accident. Second, ever been in an accident? If the RX-8hit a tree while out of control, it probably would have scared the crap out of the both of them. Lets put it this way, Im sure the passengers first response would not have been to laugh. Third, if this accident really did happen, which I highly doubt from the decription, you are truely a cruel person for not stopping to see if everyone was ok. Honestly, its a shame no one cares about others in todays society.

You can flame me back all you want, but the story is fishy......

Ok maybe i'm off on the 50 feet in front of me but it was still only 4 car lenghts in front of me. Just because he lost control doesn't mean he stoped moving.

honestly I don't feel one bit bad about not stopping. How many people have stopped for you when you have had a road emergency? I sat on 294 for 2 hours waiting for someone to help me out in my first car <89 voyager, that thing was a tank> when it busted. Most people won't help you regardless of your situtation. Plus what xphillipirx said is true and you always got to look out for no.1.

I'm sure if he had 30k to spend on a car he's got the $200 for a cell phone.

I killed my conscious long ago. The little bastard was keeping me up at night.

Well, at least you stick to you guns about not stopping, lol. I do applaud your restraint on not racing. I believe there are others on this site that could learn a thing or two.

Yeah smart guy. You are equally liable for any damage that could have happened to a 3rd party. Know that next time.

I'm well aware of that. We were the only two cars on the street. It's when he wanted to play NASCAR and pull off a 50 mph roll by himself and switch lanes is when he ran into trouble.

I personally don't like to drag race but like i've said I won't back down. Drag racing defeats the purpose of owning an EVO. Now guys like evo bill are doing great with their cars. Most people don't understand the time and effort that go into a legit drag car and think by throwing an intake and exhaust makes you a contender. Go up against someone who takes it seriously and has spent the time and watch them fly.

I've had about 4 STi's ask me to drag against them on the street. I've never taken one up on their offer because of the fact that its basically the same car and it depends on the driver. Now when I asked them back if they wouldn't mind a little autocross from say Naperville to Woodfield and don't use the highway I've never had one of them take me up on that.

**** i wouldn't pull over. he did that to himself so i'd drive on by and do a lil miss america wave while hitting my hazards since he thought he was racing. and it is true, how many times have i seen people stuck on the shoulder waiting for help. there are very few out there who would do anything to help another out, unfortunately i'm not one of them. you gotta take care of yourself before you take care of others.

Perhaps provoke was the wrong word. He stepped it up a notch by getting involved.
