Silver STI with Subaru sticker on side and "Team Metric or Matrix" In Twin Cities, MN

I had my first encounter with a Silver STi (with either Team Matrix or Metric on the side and the Subaru rally sticker with the stars and stuff on the driver side door) in St. Paul yesterday (couldn't pass it up). Is he someone here's friend or does anyone here know him. All I could here is Intake and Exhaust. Does anyone know his mods. I had 2 other people in my car and he's just by himself. It was kind of dark out. We only ran about a block long (on the HWY) so not really a full race. I wanted to run longer but rd was coming to a Y and he went other way. I was able to get half a car or more by the time I hit 2nd going to 3rd. Not really a full race so I can't claim kill. I wish it would of went longer anyways nice run with STi. My mods are HKS RS, 3" Bushur Turbo back with HF cat and Magnaflow muffler + MBC @ 1.5 kg/cm.

Hi! The guy who owns that STi also owns Metric Auto Parts and Metric Auto Shop. Their ph# are 228-9840 for shop and 222-7810 for parts. They are located right after you cross the Smith bridge (or also known as High bridge). Chris and Tom run the shop . By cooleness they can compare only to guys at Perpulshun .They have been tuning my VW's for the last 6 years. They are the alternative to a dealership . And they work on all makes.Once in a while you'll see twin turbo awd Porsches parked by their shop with TeamMetric signs to promote racing. They bought one of the first STis that came to Twin Cities.By the way , the dude that owns that STi is like 60 years old . I personally would suggest to any of you guys to do all your heavy duty (clutches , cams etc.) stuff done by them ( no offence Perpulshun ). Last time they put new clutch in my VR6 ( with new belts, flush, oil cooler etc.) it cost me less than a grand .

hawjdude, Yeah...I'm Fue's brother. He was telling me that one of his buddy got the black Evo (congrats). Is yours still stock? The Sti that I ran into was driven by a young guy so I don't think it's the owner of Metric shop. Could be one of their son though.

How come you decided to go flash and not use the s/afc. Are there any problems with the hks rs intake with your car.

I got to many wires tapped into my ECU already. I don't really have any place else to mount the unit and mounting it on the dash is a no..no for me. Also, Buschur does not have setting on SAFC II for 92 octane, their setting is only for 94 Octane only so you would have to tune it yourself. The stock gauges pretty much took care of the extra space beneath the temp control. The TT took up the ash tray. I thought about the glove book for the SAFC II but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a SAFC when you can't see it. All the reviews I read, flash is the way to go. From what I heard, The HKS RS intake will make your car run a little lean in the high rpm. The custom flash was suppose to help take care of that. I haven't had any problems with mine. It really sucks alot of air. What a difference the flash made on my car. It was hard to bring the car back after a test run. I thought about Buschur all the way with their intake and all but I like the HKS cause it's yellow and goes with my car too. More of a cosmetic issue for me. So how much did you guys bought your Evo for? Does it come with any options?

Took my Jetta to Metric for service today and saw the guy with aforementioned Sti. He said he only put Bosal exhaust into it and looking into lowering it this summer. Oh yes, more stickers too . I have to tell ya, that was the meanest exhaust I have ever heard on a 4 banger, it has a HUGE canister. And those golden Brembos - mmmmmmmmmmmmm Swears he still has original clutch and it also rides on winter tires. While in the shop , Chris showed me a turbo they pulled out of disel Golf. Turbo was size of a tiny Krispy Kream doughnut (he-he) and full of oil . Though it was replaced for VW's money.
