Brother is interested buying EVO VIII MR

Hey guys just signed up today as I have something to ask. My brother and I will be looking to see this CLICK ME if not sold by Friday. Just want to ask if anybody here know about this car. The turbo, manifold and intercooler etc. looks modified to me, I'm also wondering if the engine internals are modified too. Just want to know the history and reliability of this car before my brother buys it. Car is originally from Arizona as I checked on Carfax, and then the second owner is from here in Illinois.

Thank You!

At that price I would find a different car. Buying someone else's project is always going to be a headache, especially if you can't talk to the person who installed all the mods.

doesnt mean anything is wrong with the car..maybe the previous owner liked the se seats better so he swapped them out, liked the mr ebrake handle and put other evo 9 stuff in there. Not unusual. Many people just swap in 9 parts as an "upgrade" (except the 6 speed tranny lol) Car could still be in perfect working order. I'm thinking the previous owner found a totalled 9 mr an salvaged some parts from it.

So there's no MR for the year of 2003? I've read from wiki that the MR's have 6speed and regular ones only have 5speed. MR's have some improvements vs the regular Evo VIII as Mitsubishi made some of that to the MR version like the revised limited-slip front differential, aluminum MR shift knob, handbrake with carbon fiber handle, 17 inch BBS wheels, aluminum roof, and a 6-speed manual gearbox(based on wikipedia).

You're right about that, that's why I'm taking a chance looking for some info about the car on this forum maybe somebody know about it and if it's worth buying.
Also I would't pay that dealer price though, I did told my brother if ever he falls through buying it I would negotiate the price. My max I told him is 15k for this car. You know dealers want to get easy money putting 3-4k on top of market value... Not really deadset on this one though.
