Question I want suspension.. but can't decide what?

I'm pretty bummed up as to which coilover setup I wanna put on my Evo without making the stock suspension feel any worse. I either want HKS, Tein or Cusco but no one has any good reviews as far as these 3 manufacturers are concerned when is applied to the Evos suspension in general and if I do, it's applied to a different vehicle.

HELP

Any links and personal reviews appreciated.

I would wait, I know that isn't what you want to here I would wait for Ground Control or Progress Group for their shocks (not just a coilover kit) and adjustable sway bars. That way you can talk to someone local (in the good old U.S. of A) and have them valve the kit for YOUR needs rather than an off the shelf kit from a long, long way away that may or may not be what you want and could be hard to get serviced etc.

The stock setup is damn good, I'm guessing you just want to lower the car?

The Teins lasted about 15 months with about 200 laps of the track i go to (also some back road driving). I have ordered a set of zeal to replace them. They aren't on the car yet so I cannot say if they are any good.

The guy that tunes my car has a full HKS evo (its a VII with the same technical specs as the one which broke the record at Tsukuba) and it runs the HKS Hypermax Pro II. Ride is pretty harsh but the car sticks to the ground like you wound not believe. I have not driven it but have riden in it (too scared to drive it), it is ridiculous.

What do you want to use your car for?

Basically, few road track events... few auto-x and daily driven. I'm looking for a suspension setup that will be able to accomplish all of the above. The daily driven part is the most important. Not too harsh of a ride is what I'm looking for.. for the streets.

The HKS are very promising but I also want to open up my options. Can you describe more about your Teins? Pros and Cons.

The zeal suspension are a bit too much for me but I believe you went with the zeal to suit your needs especially you track your car alot and hard driving. Please post a review on the zeal once you have that installed. Just being curious.

DB8GSR,

Sounds like you need something adjustable with softer (than track use only) spring rates. Can't reccommend spring rates as different people like different things.

Then get the thickest adjustable sway bars you can find, and adjust to your driving preference.

The teins were good when they were new, but they got tired disappointingly fast. On the road they were good but only better than adequate on the track. because they were moderately sprung, I could get on the power earlier on bumpy roads and keep-up/get away from more powerful/expensive cars (GT3s, GTRs, etc.). On a smooth track the extra body roll can be a bit scary (but you can get it into a nice 4 wheel drift and rotate the car when trail braking).

Will let you know how the zeal work-out but they weren't my first choice. Sometimes you do come to your senses and finacial realities kick-in (read, no Ohlins for me). Nonetheless, a friend of mine has been in contact with Junichi Tanaka and they are sending me a set with the same set-up as they use. Might be way too hard for me, but I will just have to sort it out when I get them.

HKS are very highly rated. They always seem to come out on top during tests. I'm planning on running them also. Should be able to get pretty good pricing on them. Only others to consider would be CUSCO. I've had good luck with their products.

Any idea about the APEIX susupension and what should I go for.. By the way I got an EVO 7

All the suspensions listed above are pretty good "all-rounders" But, you gonna have ask your self...can you put up with the "daily" rougher ride? or can you deal with more "roll"than you would like when you compete? Apexi N1 or HKS Hyper Performer II are about equal ...I have TEIN but I will not recommend them...why?? you say,?? simple... I have the harshness of performance suspension but the performance just above stock suspension next suspension will be OHILNS....performance (expensive) PEACE
