can u run this size? the tire that are suggested are 255/40/17. i would like to avoid the larger wheel gap, so can i run the 45's without rubbing? not lowered.

Won't work!

Won't work. Rubbing in the rear, or strut clearance in the front.

That's what I run on the track currently.
Swift springs
17x9 +35 offset rims with 255/40/17 tires.
Zero issues with rubbing. You might be able to do a 255/45 if you're not lowered, but I can't say for sure as I've never tried.

someone correct me if im wrong here, but arent 255/45/17 taller than the stock 235/45/17? i would think that would be less favorable than a slightly shorter 255/40/17.

well if the 45 number is indeed a percentage of the 255 number then it would be a bit taller, no?
255 is width
45 is a percentage of the width
so in this case you have a taller tire.
255 40 17 is close to the stock tires diameter, 255 45 would be a bit bigger in circumference. throwing off your speedo a little.

as far as looks go 5% would be about 7mm closer to the wheel arch?

remember what you paid for for that information (in case I'm wrong)

wrong
wide/height/rim diameter

"255 45 would be a bit bigger in circumference. throwing off your speedo a little. "

i just was wondering if 255/45/17 would fit without rubbing(on a nine inch rim in diameter) instead of 255/40/17. i am trying to avoid a bigger wheel gap.
i stand corrected
Tire size results
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revolutions Speedometer Odometer Difference
245/45-17 4.3" 12.8" 25.7" 80.7" 785/mi 60MPH 10000mi N/A
255/45-17 4.5" 13.0" 26.0" 81.8" 775/mi 59MPH 9864mi 1.4%
sorry man

you didn't tell us the offset of the rim. but I think you may have some rubbing issues in the back.
