AMS’s ECUTeK for EVO X is coming soon!
I received notice yesterday that the software/hardware from ECUTeK which will allow us to flash the EVO X will soon be available! The software package looks like it is going to be very user friendly and offers a lot of cool upgrades from the previous versions of tuning software. Some cool things it will be able to do:
We are very excited to get our hands the FlashCan EVO software/hardware here at AMS which should hopefully be shipping out next week! I can’t wait to see what we can make our EVO X do once we can get inside and start messing around with the ‘guts’ of the car.

- Live map access (live tuning without immediate reflash)
- Data logging (of course)
- Currently Supports ALL EVO X models with either 5spd or SST from the US, Japan, and UK. European and Australian models are to follow shortly.
- Very good map list already established which should allow any changes necessary for power output.
- More map definitions being added as they are found

Sorry for the ignorance. I am familiar with DSMLink. Will ECUTEK allow the users to modify timing, fuel, etc themselves? I ask because, while I don't claim to be the best tuner, I have done well in the past.

At this time, the only people that will be able to modify the tune of the car would the Authorized ECUTeK dealer. In the event that they release the DeltaDash for these cars, users will be able to make some changes to different parts of the tune.
Pricing will be figured out in the near future!

I like the access port more because it doesn't lock you out of the ecu like the ecutek does, and it has all kinds of cool features like live data streams for datalogging without needing a laptop in the car, and cobb has great off the shelf maps for different stages of mods. Plus, it has a revert back to stock mode that leaves no trace of ever having been there, just in case warranty work is needed.
I know that eric had mentioned that you guys at AMS would be carrying the access port and would even be creating modified maps for your bolt on packages that could simply be e-mailed to customers. We the customers could then load the map onto the access port, and flash our own cars in the garage. This seems to be a much better solution than the ecutek, where customers have to go to an ecutek dealer and have them flash the car for us. Chris, is this still in the plan, or have you guys decided to go only with the ecutek?

Chris,
you need to hassle ECUtek into giving you a complimentary copy of the Forester XT software when you purchase the Evo X software.
I'll even put an ECUtek sticker on my Fozz if it helps.
