AccessPort Accessmanager Stock question
AccessPort Accessmanager Stock question
I just downloaded the map from my car to the accessport but it doesnt show up in the Access manager software. The only stock map i see is the cobb supplied one dated November 29th just like the others provided.
I updated the accessport before installing it on the car.
Anyone know about this? Posted on Cobbs site as well.
Im checking it on the accessport on the car when i come back from checking out the new map.

Your original stock map is stored on the AP until it is uninstalled. Currently there is no way to remove to tamper with the original stock map.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
So we can download the current ecu flash on the car (the stock map) to the accessport. and then if we need to take it in for service or anything, we can upload it back onto the ecu?
It seemed to me on the site that there was a "stock" map that wasn't the same map as is on the car but one that emulates the stock map. I guess what i'm asking is can we save the stock map using the AP and then re-upload it so mitsu would be none the wiser?

The COBB AP supplied map runs the vehicle with stock map values, but does still have a COBB signature. There is no emulation what so ever, the AP supplied map runs the vehicle with stock values.
The answer to your question is, yes, if you uninstall before going to the dealer.

That brings up another related question:
Suppose there is a custom flash tune on the ECU when the AP is used to image the existing flash. So that is kept on the AP device, and is not able to be backed-up for archival purposes? Is it either the stock map/image or a flashed image - but not both?
And what happens if there is a hardware failure in the AP handheld device? What happens to the saved image(s)??
I had a dongle failure a couple days after I received the new AP for my X. Cobb CS quickly replaced it and I'm back running again but that makes me curious as to how "disaster recovery" works with saved images on the hand-held device.
If I have a AP failure (lost, stolen, damaged, inop for whatever reason) how can I get a replacement device to uninstall or reflash back to either stock or the custom saved image?

If you unmarry/uninstall the AP it will be 100% undetectable by the dealer due to your original stock map going back on the ECU. If you flash on a AP supplied stock map it's not 100% undetectable, although they would really have to look hard.

This is a pretty no brainer to me. (well, all except I live right next to AMS and they evidently don't tune with AP
oh well, I'll figure something out.)Edit
I used to test the software on big diesel caterpillar engines when they were being developed and we would use a special software to communicate with the ECU and that allowed reflashing the ECU. What I guess I have concluded is that the AP is basically the same thing. It allows you to read data from the ECU, including existing flash files. And then you can upload new flash files as you please. It's basically giving you all the tools that the manufacturer uses to communicate with the ecu in a handheld device. So +1million for AP.
Now when are you guys releasing that quad tip exhaust? I've wanted it since like 8 months ago!

Yes, once the AccessPort is uninstalled from the vehicle it can be re-installed to that car or any other that falls in it's part # description.
