Cobb AP Tunes...

2 quick nube questions.....

1. If I have two cars with the same mods can I use the same Cobb AP or do I need to purchase two of them?

2. Do the tunes compensate for ambient temperature changes and the affect on boost or should you have a "summer" and "winter" tune?

not sure on 2, but the AP marries to the car, so you can't use one on multiple cars.

#1 is most Defiantly a no ( just thought you may need to hear it from 2 people )
you can uninstall it from one car and use it on the other ( not sure how that would be helpful ).

#2 ( i am not a guru ) BUT... the ECU can learn to adjust the timing and fuel if it needs to overtime ( learned Knock retard and LTFT )... There could be more LEARNED parameters but those are the 2 i know of.

#1 looks covered.

#2. There is really no need for a seasonal tune, ECU will handle what is need. If a lower quality fuel is used in the winter time, we have a map to cover that scenario as well.

Thanks,

I'm not using the econ map, but with the custom tune I'm averaging just about what I was without the tune. *maybe* slightly higher around town but I think that is because I don't have to be on it so much because of more power down low.

my mpg read out has not worked since I flashed. So I really could not tell you. I hope Cobb fix's that soon.

That would be interesting, our Evo's trip computer is working as expected. Can you described the behavior of your MPG readout?

Thanks,

I get 26 mpg in mixed highway and local (daily commute) but only if I'm cruising in between 60-70 and no WOT runs at all. That first stab of the throttle ususally drops the gas meter and kisses good MPG goodbye.

I'm hard headed so I had to go in limp mode a couple times before realizing the economy map is not for me. If you get on it hard, it will overboost and or the throttle position will go "out of range". I l like having the choice to swap, but the economy map is literally a neutered Evo.

This in no way is a negative about the econ map or the AP, as it clearly states in the map notes that it is NOT for aggressive driving of any kind. Just an FYI.

As for city MPG, I get inbetween 18-20 (which is better than the 14MPG i would get on a good day with the stock tune)
Keep in mind this is me with the standard math "miles per a tank" method and not the AP or the Dash info screen

Hope that helps

Ok Rob@Cobb

I reset the meter and it appears to be tracking MPG? I guess just a reset is in order when you flash. i am gonna try changing maps... last time i tried it kept failing. ill let you know.
