MAFs gone bad!
MAFs gone bad!
I have now had to change out 2 MAF sensors when going WOT, pedal to the metal, only to have both times "service required" main message and "check engine soon" lights come up. Code P0102. Changed out the MAF sensor, all is well both times!
My fuel pump relay is fine, I have a HKS drop in that I think may be the problem: have since ordered a Cosworth and am currently using the OEM paper filter.
Can my tune be an issue? Need to recheck with HBSpeed? Any thoughts as to whats up?
Thanks

I too also popped 2 MAF's and coincidentally was running the HKS SuperHybrid drop in as well. Just as the above poster stated I washed and dried the filter throughly and no more MAF failure. Did your dealership replace yours under warranty? Just curious...

I even bought the new 3 layer dry HKS to replace the old HKS and both sensors failed after that. However, it may not be the culprit. Again, can the tune cause this problem or is that not possible?

Even with the HKS in, it was OK, except for all the way out WOT which I did twice leading to 2 MAFs going bad. I am afraid to try it with the OEM filter! But eventually I will do it and then we will see!
I've had one go out and I also have the HKS drop in. Full throttle on 2nd gear to redline when it popped up. Mitsu covered and also replace the maf plug. I was in the impression that it was the plug that was the problem thats why they replaced it. I dont think its the tune the could mess it up. I have since been running the same tune. But now I wanna change my filter to a Perrin one maybe.
