I got the two screws holding the outside light off.
Now the issue is the inner piece of the light that is actually on the trunk. I assume just from looking at it that I need to get under the paneling to get the light off.

There are little circular plastic (rivets?) pieces holding the paneling on and i pry at them pretty hard to no avail. I don't want to break them off.

anybody know the trick to getting these little guys off?

 

i assume you are talking about the ones that hold the carpet to the sheet metal. You have to pop the center of the rivet out with a flat head screwdriver... once you do that they should come out really easily.

if not please supply pics of what you are talking about

 

just took off mine today, they need little force that's all, actually the white plastic thing will stay attached to the trunk.
