HOW TO: Install an EVO 9 CF panel into an EVO 8

This obviously is not a performance mod for your Evo, however I love the way the Evo 9's dash looks. I really think the CF trim piece improves the overall look of the interior.

TIME: This is a very easy install and only takes about 20-40 minutes to do.

TOOLS: The only tools needed are a Phillips screw driver and a very thin regular screwdriver which is used to pull out the switches from the EVO 8's trim piece

PART #'s : MR654262 (Small trim piece) & MR654261 (Large trim piece w/ vents)
I paid right around $260 total.

Note: The larger piece has the center vents already attached. If you can find a part number w/o these vents, it will certainly be cheaper.

PICTURES: I have pictures of the install, however I'm not sure on how to upload them. I will do this as soon as possible.

1 Start by removing the 2 phillips screws holding the hood above the instrument cluster.

2. Move the hood out of the way.

SMALL TRIM PIECE

3. Remove the Foglight/ACD & Mirror trim piece by pulling gently until it pops loose.

4. Disconnect the switches and remove.

5. Remove the switches and put them into the new CF trim piece.

6. Plug in the switches and replace.

LARGE TRIM PIECE

7. Remove the Climate control knobs by simply pulling them off.

8. Remove the 2 screws which are now visible.

9. Remove the radio trim panel by pulling it off.

10. Remove the 2 screws which are now visible. These hold the large trim piece in place.

11. Gently pull on the trim piece until it comes loose.

12. Unplug the clock and hazard light switch.

13. Switch the clock and the hazard light switches w/ the new CF Trim piece. You will need a very thin screwdriver to release the clips - which hold the switches in place.

14. Replace panel & connect the clock & hazard light.

15. Make sure all of the switches work.

Button everything up and you're done.

The pieces cost $260.
