Weird jerking....

Hey all well I got a question to ask yall to see if this is a normal thing or not for Automatic lancers with the MIVEC CVT. so i took a ramp off a highway to enter another highway.... then i step on the gas to accelerate, the car went fine, from 30 to like 70 in like no time it felt 6 sec or so..lol... but anyway rpm went to like 5000 then suddenly it drops down to 4000 while my speedometer still goes up to 80 mph. Is this a normal feeling of the CVT doing it's work? I thought it's suppose to keep the speed going up while maintain the rpm constant instead of dropping it to shift then go up again?

I hope my transmission is not going bad It's not like I slam on the gas hard everytime.... just from when i take off time to time i hit the gas to pass drivers... and from escaping car on to ramps...

i would get ahold of the dealership and take them to an off ramp on the highway and show them. thats why you have a warranty, get some use outta that batch!

If you ease of the gas the transmission will change the "pulley ratios" to conserve gas. If you were flooring it this whole time than you have a problem.

I did ease off a little, but I thought when you accelerate don't you always make sure your foot is pressing down on the gas and holding it?

It's normal man, if you ease of the the gas at all, the rpm's drop.

right I notice yes the rpm does drop to kinda save gas, but what about the jerking feeling? it's like a manual jerking but shouldn't cvt shift be smoother?

I don't think it's a real problem... I'm trying to see if it happens again.
