Just picked up my 1st 08 GSR:)
So I picked up this Rally Red 08 GSR today, drove 7 hours to get it. This is my first car that is a stick and I got it down pretty well with 7 hours of driving.. lol here are my problems, both reverse lights dont work, where could i purchase those? autozone? my engine makes a ticking noise is that bad? my idle is a bit shaky sometimes and i had already tied down that loose vacuum line. last but not least my front brakes squeak really loud.. do i need new brake pads? other then that those have been the only problems ive had with it so far. i plan to get an intake, uicp, and a cbe and keep everything stock for a while. if anyone could help me out that would be great thanks!

didnt notice the reverse lights during the day, ticking sound started happening after the 7 hour drive, same with brakes and I asked about idle and they said they didnt know.
I understand that 7 hours is a long ways from home, but tell me you've contacted them since and they will do something about it? In your best interest, you should drive back and have them take care of it since they sold it to you!
Is this car "stock" or "modded and put back to stock"?
How much life is left in the brake pads? With the brakes, Brimbo brakes do squeak on occasion, but not every time you slow down.
With the reverse lights, you shouldn't have to go to Autozone and fix it yourself. They should work properly when you bought the car. Do you know if it's the bulbs or an electrical issue?
Hopefully you didn't buy someone else's problem.
Can you return the car and get your money back if this car is beat and broken?

brakes are probably to the wear bar.
check tail lights to see if bulbs are burnt out. if not then its a electrical issue.
idle is usually the infamous vacuum line. but if its already secure then i dunno
and tick = no bueno.

I would take it back to them for sure. At least get some money back so you can build the motor and get some pads. I would for sure be in contact with that dealer. And awesome first manual car. Hope you get all of this stuff sorted out The engine noise is what I would be worried about. You checked the oil I assume? Can you get a video of the noise up?
Like everyone else said, definitely return the car and have them fix the issues. Something doesn't seem right about your car, you shouldn't have any issues right after driving off the lot unless they were disclosed. Is it completely stock? Any modification or evidence of past modifications may mean the car was beat on. Also did the dealer tell you have they got the car? I would be very concerned if it was a lease because the previous owner may have beat on the car knowing they were just going to trade it in when the lease was over.
Oh yea, and welcome to the club
Hopefully everything works out for you.

Thanks everyone. Ill get some videos up and check to see if the bulbs are burnt. Going to take it today to an Evo shopped called jms and see what they can figure out, car is and was stock no mods put on then taken off. It currently has 43k miles
Have you called the dealership you bought it from to let them know about this??
Congrats on the EVO, however everybody is right, Take it back ASAP or ask them if you can take it to a local authorized dealer that can fix the issues. You should have a 3month warranty or some type of warranty (at least in NY you do). Those issues should be covered, and def do it before you start modding the car. Its in your best interest. The Car CAN be a headache sometimes, so dont add fuel to the fire by letting all the problems pile up. once again, congrats
