Ets intercooler tuning question.

Im going to be installing my 3in ets intercooler on Saturday 11/24. I still have to work Sunday. 3 mile drive each way, and then to the performance shop 15 miles away. If i stay out of boost and keep the rpms below 3000 will everything be ok?

Mods are in my sig. Cobbap - stage 2 93, sf, cbcs

Thank you.

I installed my listed mods sans 3port and drove without my tune and had no problems.

FWIW, it was much easier to install the LICP by connecting to coupler nearest the intercooler first then to TB. Removing the bumper cover was easy too. Here's a pic I have of the day I did it:

You don't really even need to tune if just an intercooler.

He had other mods in his sig though. Tune is probably suggested since one was a test pipe and another I think is the Cobb 3port

No tune required with a Intercooler. If you are running your other mods fine, you shouldn't have to worry with the addition of the intercooler.

If anything adding an intercooler makes your car more stable by lowering charge temps making it less likely for detonation to happen so you'll definitely be fine running that mod without additional tuning.

All you are doing is increasing the surface area to allow for greater heat dissipation through the intercooler. So you are just adding cooler air. Think about it like this, would you tune your car every time the temperature dropped?

Maybe I'm a little crazy, but every winter and every summer my tuner has a dyno-day. I have him touch up the tune. If I ever get to the point of not mod'ing my X, I'll likely run a winter and summer map. But I'm a little OCD, and Phx summers get crazy hot.

I understand all that but i thought it increased the air flow a little. A little less resistance?

I think this guy might know what he's talking about

The intercooler won't negatively affect the tune on the vehicle nor make it go lean.

No need to worry or even get a tune unless you want to.
