Anyway to completely turn off the ASC/Traction control?

I was just wondering if there is anyway of fully turning off the traction control from the EVO X besides holding down the ASC button? I know its doing its job and cuts off the throttle until it senses that you are more stable, but in some cases it becomes quite annoying. I know that I can tamper a bit with the AYC fuse, but I fear that there could be other consequences in doing that. Just wish the car would allow me to have a bit more fun like on the EVO 8's & 9's. All inputs will be much appreciated. Thank you!

You can buy an ASC ECU module by Ralliart, but it's for the RS model only (wasn't ever released in the states).

Good to know, I'll look into it. You wouldn't suggest just pulling out the fuse?

by pressing it once, throttle cut and stability braking is turned off (ayc is allowed to brake inner wheel for yaw). by pressing and holding it for 2 seconds makes it so the ayc to will not brake the inner wheel for yaw control (best at the track where you will cook your brakes).

you should just press it once unless at the track

I ALWAYS drive with the ASC button held down for the longest because its the closest thing I have to it being fully off at the moment. I've taking it to the track several times already, and even when getting on the Apex and wanting to do a slide or try and take the turn a bit faster it'll just cut the throttle and then i'm left with no power, but when I am about the complete the turn it restores the throttle and lets me finish the turn nice and smoothly, but doesn't let me have any fun(( I have found it helpful during different braking applications, especially when braking into a turn after the straight away. Just the EVO 8 and 9's that i've driven on/off the track were more exciting and let you get away with more then the EVO x

Yet the x has a better skid pad rating then it's predecessors because of its traction control etc, just get an 8 or 9 if you want more oversteer, Look at Brett Middleton's vids on YouTube he does say that you can't fully turn off the traction control but you are in 95% control

Hold the button down for 3 seconds to turn everything off that can be turned off.

There are some good posts about the different functions of the button but I'd sure be interested in a more permanent solution than holding down the button (and something more elegant than removing fuses). To be honest, I'll sometimes forget to disable the system when I'm getting all strapped in and ready to grid. I seem to generate a fair amount of nervous energy and remembering to hold down the button for 3 seconds sometimes evades me. Plus, once I'm strapped in, I can hardly reach the button to hold it down. It is VERY frustrating to forget and then be painfully reminded when we go green (after the tires are warm) only to find the leaders pull away exiting onto the straight...

Anyone know of a clean way to disable the system without throwing codes or interrupting ABS or other key functions?

Right now, there's no option besides the button. If you start pulling fuses, you'll end up with no AYC and an open center, because the systems are connected enough that shutting one down causes all to shut down. This is at least as annoying to those of us who want to shut off the ABS as it to you all who want to shut down the ASC. But until Vadimus hacks into this part of the system for us, you are stuck with the button and/or replacing the entire system.

Count your blessings, o peeps who only hate ASC; those of us who hate ABS have no button to push.

From my understanding you can never completely cut it off. I had a X and had issues with ASC light coming on at 29-30lbs of boost. If this is an issue your having Tephra7 i believe is the code you will need to eliminate this issue. If you are not having this issue please disregard, lol.

Middleton's youtube link didn't work, are you sure he still has the video up? Any chance that Vadimus will be hacking this for us soon?

Do you happen to be tapping the brake at all during your turn? That will cut the throttle and I don't think there's currently any way around it. Consequence of the Toyota unintended (retards) acceleration fiasco.

You know...you are right. Sheesh. And I have all the stuff to do it, even the spare buttons... I just completely forgot until you mentioned it.

By "button next to the shifter" do you mean the hand-brake switch?

During apex turns yes, but that is due from abs braking. But even in a straight line under hard acceleration except 5 & 6 gear it cuts out the power. I checked all my fluids and checked for any boost leaks and all is good. It just feels like if it was overboosting when i'm WOT and when it senses that, it cuts off power. But since I am tuned i shouldn't be having this problem, i've also been looking at my MAF sensor to be part of the problem as it might not be as free flowing as it should be to compensate with my mods and tune. I know that ETS makes some nice housings for them, and it could help out with my problem.
