Take out the passenger-side fog light (it's obscuring the transmission cooler), and install a 4" electric fan to aid in cooling. Bingo - no more overheating the transmission going around the track.

The preproduction models of the MR did not have fog lamps.

Lots of good points here, and I feel like the last poster, that it is totally dependent on your driving style. However, having campaigned some auto cars before, there are precautions you can do to extend the life of the tranny, and make the car last longer. For instance, pulling air from the ground, is not as good as pulling from across the top of the car. I am eventually going to vent the front fender (outside of the motor), and pull the air higher, so it is farther from the ground. Also, a fan is not a bad idea either, but I would suspect it's net gain is more a lower speeds, than higher. Also, there are some more sophisticated coolers out there, which would do a much better job.

Hopefully, in the next month of so, I will have the cams and new FP-Red on my MR, so I should be able to offer more insight. As a product of those installs, I am considering the venting, as well as, switching the cooler for something better. In total, I hope to have a stable 425whp, and since the car will see nothing but light open-tracking, and cruising, it should be fine, at least in the interim till I can get something more built from shep or HKS.

As for now, mine dyno'd somewhere north of 350whp, (high reading Mustang dyno), so I suspect I am somewhere around 300, and the car is great. I can't wait to get another 120whp, and see what this thing can do on-track. I have some times to try and break from my old 8.
