Question regarding MR SS-T

I had a question regarding the various modes (Normal, Sport, S-Sport) and how they effect anything while in manual mode. Is there any difference in the car/drive/handling between Normal, Sport or S-Sport while manually shifting gears with paddles or the stick? I haven't noticed any differences...but was wondering what the more astute and knowledgeable people of this forum would have to say.

When shifting manually, when in sport mode in comparison to normal the car will shift faster (it's really slipping the clutch faster and engaging the gear quicker).

^ Yeah, basically what he said.

The shift speed is increased progressively from Normal->Sport->S-Sport.

Also it allows you to rev the car higher in sport and s-sport mode if you choose.

I see ZERO difference in the shift speed between the 3 modes, when using the tranny in manual mode. I also see zero difference in shift speed between sport and super sport in auto mode.

In the manual, it explains the exact differences in auto mode, but doesn't say anything about differences in manual mode. Strange.

Really? I can rev as high as I want in Normal before shifting gears.

Odd, I can definitely feel the car slip the clutch in normal and sport modes but the shifts are faster and stronger (less slip) in S-SPORT Manual.

The point you hit the rev limiter changes from normal to sport and s-sport in both manual and auto mode. And no you can't rev the motor as high as you want before shifting.

I only see one table for rev limit on and off. The shift points change in auto, but the rev limiter should not care what mode you are in.

We're talking about manual mode. S-Sport rev matches for you in manual mode when you shift down.

Depends how high you rev it. If you drive the crap outta the car the MPG is going to suck. Drive conservatively...and it will get slightly better.

I often drive around in Sport mode with paddles because I like crisper shifts but I shift at the RPM's Normal mode would to get better gas mileage which incidentally, still sucks :-P

IMHO, normal mode is NOT optimized for best gas mileage. It shifts so low that you can't maintain any speed without dumping a ton of fuel. I usually shift in the 3500-4000 range. It seems to help for power and using as little fuel as possible to get going.

I'm not completely sure about that. I can manage to get 19-20 city driving in auto/normal. I always get less doing manual / normal or sport. Maybe its just my style of driving but its been my experience.
