If it dumps faster than stock, it shouldn't trigger a code.

Hehe .. depends ..

The design of the BOV is a PULL to vent type .. so if your car downshifts in WOT .. the bov doesn't vent .. thats where you will overboost ..

I'm working on a partial fix now .. semi close the throttle to drop the vacuum and vent it slightly .. ultimately I want synapse to fix this .. but it seems like they screwed up with the removal of port C .. I don't know because I can't test a port C to see if this problem exist ..

After reading this thread, it raised some concerns.
i DD my evo and inbetween shifts i let go of the gas, then pull the the techtronic stick, then give it some gas, is this bad for the car? it seems to go pretty smooth

Not necessarily bad, but why would you drive that way? It could get the computer confused because it doesn't know what to expect. Might result in some jerky shifting, which could put unnecessary stress on stuff, but it's probably not going to be that big of a deal.

I thought wastegates are used to alleviate boost spike and boost creep?

....if you are complaining about not being able to hear your bov in between shifts, go get a turbo simulator and a bowl of rice. There is no throttle plate close hence no reason for the bov to open. It vents pressure when the throttle plate closes to prevent compressor surge. You will run faster just shifting normal while holding the gas down, if you want to run ricer, then let off the gas to hear your mad tight bov, and prematurely wear down your tranny.

There is no bov to "keep up" with the tranny. Your in boost the whole time, no vent.

Lol, this is what I was going to say in my first post, but I decided to be nice about it.

lmao @ turbo simulator and bowl of rice. That's quote worthy!

ha thanks. I just couldn't take it after the things I was reading in this thread. The only tiptronic i've driven is my parents hyundai santa fe and even I know that you don't let off the gas. that's the POINT of it, some control over rpms without the added time of letting off the gas and without loosing boost/power while you are shifting. some people need
