Max power

Hi Guys im new to the whole evo scene

Not too sure if this has been posted before but cant find any info anywhere.

I have an 09 Evo x fq300 sst and was wondering what the maximum power the standard clutches can take before they start slipping.

Thanks for your help in advance

Regards

Willow

There are tons of posts about this and the consensus is around 350 ft lbs of torque. also note that the TCU slips the clutches when it senses too much tq. the clutches themselves may hold more tq but without having the TCU cracked thus far, we dont know for sure...

I am currently running 386whp/336wtq, so far no issues. I'm definitely over 350 torque at the crank, and any other number would be dyno specific so I'm not sure that we know anything about when they will truly let go.

Hi lodifreefly

Thats a good power figure. Has the tcu been played around with at all or is it stock.

What mods have you done to yours to get that sort of power. Im just trying to get some ideas at the moment as my is still under warranty and cant do anything to it. I have inquired about the official fq330 upgrade we have available over here but mitsubishi want £3000 to do it and i think i can get a lot more power out of it for £3000

As far as I know there isn't anyone able to modify the TCU, so that part is stock. However the SST tables in the ECU have been modified extensively by GST.

As far as mods, I've done quite a bit (upgraded turbo and cams + all supporting mods). If you want to see the complete rundown there's a thread in the dyno section:
