Updated Mapping of the SST

I took my EVO in for some warranty work and commented on some peculiar transmission behavior and the technician mentioned that there is a new mapping/flash for the SST. Since update , I sense the transmission responds better in sport (shifts) as well as normal down shifts. Apparently it is the same calibration as the 2010 that appears to generate some better performance numbers. Check it out.

it is not possible ..

According to getrag .. 2010 gearbox mappings are meant for 2010 cars only .. so they will not upgrade the software for you ..

If I know mitsu well enough ..always .. the 1st generation mappings are the most aggressive and most powerful .. subsequent updates usually improves comfort at the expense of power

i smell a detuned mapping... a bit fishy... i talked to my mitsu tech and he said no word in CALI for any updated sst mapping but if there is.. its prossibly a detuned update so you cant break it... but if he is wrong keep us posted!!!!

Wouldn't it just be a case of updating the new '04' ROM onto earlier itterations of ROM file?

Thats what is done on the Triton Diesel because of the EGR surging issue.

haven't heard of so many software updates on the Evo before the X though

Tephra, the software they are talking about is the SST software .. you can't mess with that unless you pull the gearbox rom ..

There are a few versions of SST software .. 1st gen was prone to premature oveheat issues .. but it was also one of the better ones I tested ..

Any ideas on which build dates have these versions? Are you saying that they updated the SST software during the 08 model run?

no exact build dates ..

before April 08

between april to before 09 - we had the recall for a reverse issue on this ..

09-10 - there could be a minor update between these 2 not sure ..

reverse issue?
i noticed that mine sometimes doesn't want to go into Reverse and the R on the dash will just flash.... is this a known problem? plus sometimes I can smell something burnt clutch after driving in sport mode or manual mode I think it's from the clutch...
