Issues are only for JDM .. we get our cars long before you guys do .. so USDM actually has a 2nd batch of the software ..

On the 1st batch .. the reverse will not engage and you don't have any indications .. and the engine will just free revs without engaging ..

the 2nd batch fixed this issue by introducing the flashin R to tell you that reverse never engaged ..

The interim software fix for ours was let the idle stabilise and the reverse will engage ..

next batch was 09 (but I'm not sure if there's any update) and 2010 model ..

 

Same thing happens to mine. If you press the brake it will engage fine. Come to think of it, it hasn't happened in a while.

 

I know this already been beaten to death, but just looking for a fresh update/info.

I am a new owner to an 08 MR. I asked my dealer about updating my sst to 2010 and they said they would flash to "anything I want" for a fee.

Do I want the 2010 tune? How is the TCU programming changed? Are they just going to give me the tune and not be able to change sst firmware?

 

dude your clutch CAN NOT SMELL !
becasue its a wet clutch , so when you puch it its your engine turbo getting hot and brakes ....
thats it .....

I was just about to mention that. Good call lol. It was probably the brakes you were smelling better check those pad depths lol

 

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the dealer all together.
