The owners guide lists the proper shift points are for the manual transmission - but not the TC-SST - does anybody know?

 

I just shift when it hits 22-2300 rpm.
Unless I'm pushing it, then it's around 3500-4000.

If I'm going all out, about 6 grand.

I RL it everyonce in a while.

 

you shift when it hits 2200?.... you must be in 6th doing about 30mph.. i hope you drive in the slow lane granny.

 

I shift at ~2200, not drive at 2200, learn the difference.

Just cause I cruise with the motor doing 4k in 6th doesn't mean i have to bang it into gear at 4k in the city.

 

I typically shift at the same points I would if it was a manual...so just cruising around town, 2800-3200rpm...that way it keeps me around 2300-2500rpm at the start of the next gear.

 

Has anyone noticed that if you shift from about 3500 rpm and it drops to like 2900 or 3000 that is sometimes jerks? I think it from the shift point crossing the line between lots of boost and not much boost. Maybe its just me.

 

I run into that a lot whenever I shift manually, but where you're shifting it usually is smooth for mine. TC-SST can be quirky.

 

Also, shift smoothness depends on how long you've been sitting in manual mode it seems. My first couple of shifts (after being fully warmed up) aren't choppy but just not as smooth as the others. After a couple of minutes in manual, it's smooth like butter.

 

for some reason i feel like I get more power out of every shift when I shift at like 5000 RPMs
Does anyone know why?

 

The turbo is nicely spooled at this point and you're at a higher point in the power/torque curves. This is totally expected.
