now i know this is a hotly debated topic. i've read alot of the threads, but they end up in a pissing match between people who own throttle controllers and those who think they're stupid.

imaging this scenario in the MR (i don't have to imagine because i live it everyday lol) :

i'm in 1st gear as i'm stopped at the intersection waiting to turn left. i see a car comming, but think i have enough time to make the turn.

so i press the gas a little harder than usual, maybe 1/2 way, thinking i'll get some good acceleration off the line and beat the on comming car. but i literally get like a .5-1 sec lag where it just sort of putters into the turn. it's now too late to stop as i'm in the other car's way. i panic and mash the pedal all the way. after another .1 sec delay, my car goes WOT and takes off.

now i believe a throttle controller could help with this as many owners have attested to. but the makers themselves and "anti throttle controller" peeps claim it makes no difference to 0-60 times. what i don't know is whether they taking brake boosting into the equation during hard launches for drag racing...

if it does alleviate this "hit the pedal, nothing happens for .5sec" problem like alot of owners say it does, i don't see how it couldn't improve a 0-60 time when not brake boosting...like when just casually accelerating off the line at a light.

if the throttle response comes faster with a TC, how are you not getting off the line faster, therefore improving your 0-60 time? again, not brake boosting, but simply pedal to the metal from a full

Also, there's a mention in an article for the FQ330-SST that it does not exhibit this problem. did they remap the TCU/ECU?

I use a TC and it does eliminate the throttle lag, but I have a GSR. 0-60 times technically will be the same but without the delay. Just think of it as having a cable throttle body. For about $200 (or so) you can get the D1 Throttle Controller; it's an easy install and comes with good instructions. I highly recommend it especially with the MR.

Edit: Since 0-60 mph times are the same, I would ASSUME 0-60 ft times would be slightly better. I've never tested it myself or have heard much about that.

vassili let me know what you find. mines been doing this too. it also blinks on the shifter console when its in reverse and will not go into gear. i thought it was just my transmission. i was going to have my mr serviced/warrantied. other evo owners told me i needed more and/or correct fluids. ive had similar run ins with on coming traffic and now i just stomp the gas.

sorry, i'm new to these "throttle controllers"... how do they work?

yeah, trying to get into traffic from a stop really sucks--there's no power until the car hits ~3k rpm. but i always attributed that to turbo lag. how does the throttle controller help?

perhaps one way to get that instant speed needed is to preload with one foot on the brake, kinda like a pseudo launch mode. of course, that's probably not so good for the clutch mechanisms of sst.

this is completely normal... gear blockage or something like that. it will do it once in a while. shift to D then back and it will b fine

never happened to me in 12,000mi, since new. does usually take 1-2s to get in reverse though from park.

The R blinking is in your owners manual , its normal . Just put it in N or D and back to R .

does normal/sport/supersport make a difference?

can you test that? if so we might have a solution for normal/sport modes

I have tested it on an MR and it works good for combatting the rolling lag that your kinda talking about.

If and i mean if i ma strong enough, and i can unhook mine from my car (sprintbooster) you can give it a try. lol its just a pain in the but to pull out. but it will color your world

It plugs inline with your pedal.

My RA does not anymore. It was a simple flash tweak

Are you getting it in all modes or just auto or just manual or?

In all modes, I havent flashed mine yet but I will try it before I get this. Hopefully it works cuz I hate the slow start that I get.

Yes this is fixable. On my personal RA it's completely gone.

My car is uber laggy in 1st gear, and can tell my throttle is being limited (very heavily). Its frustrating sometimes, especially when pulling out into traffic. I usually end up putting it into S-Sport just help compensate, but even then its still laggy...
