Using A Portable Fan To Cool Down The TC-SST Between Sessions?

After experiencing SST overheating situation at the track I was thinking of ways to solve this problem. I was able to run more than one 20 minute session before over-heating.

I was thinking that my engine was fine cooling down between sessions because it had fans to help pull air thru the radiators and cool it down. The OEM transmission cooler however does not have a fan... and thus cannot dissipate heat as well. I know companies make aftermarket tranny coolers that include fans... but since I don't track my car that often... I'm not sure about the costs involved.

So I was thinking... what if you brought a portable fan (not a little dinky one from a dollar store... something that actually produces a good breeze)... and placed it in front of the car by the opening in the bumper for the transmission cooler. Would this help cool down the transmission enough so that you wouldn't experience the "SLOW DOWN" message in later on-track sessions?

If you look at Formula 1... they also attach fans infront of their various radiators to push air thru them when the car is stationary... since they don't have fans on their cars... to save weight.

Just install an aftermarket fan that mounts behind the tranny cooler. They have ones you can mount with a thermistor. I can't remember what car shop had an article on their evo X MR track car, they mounted a fan the same way behind the cooler and in front of the wheel liner.

??? You're saying to just splash the tranny cooler with ice water??? Wouldn't that be odd? lol

I know about fans... and I'm pretty sure that would do the job. But the thing is... the ones I saw were over $500 plus install! Considering that right now I don't really track my car much... I don't think I wanna pay that money for the fan. I can drive on the street without problems... even on the track it took a good while to get the "SLOW DOWN" message.

So I'm looking for another... less costly and involving method...

Could get one of those portable sprayers and spray your tranny cooler. I've seen people spray there intercoolers/oil coolers between auto-x sessions and on hot dyno sessions. Not sure how well it'll work but i'm sure it'll cool it down when you're parked. Won't hurt anything except leave a puddle of water under your car.

Here's a old video of my old car where Tuning Technologies is spraying water onto my intercooler/oil cooler on a dyno pull since it was 100+ degrees outside

it cost me a big 35 dollars ....
fan from ebay 8"
with some wires a fuse and a switch ,
but i had to put it in the front of the oem cooler ,
next buy a trans cooler and hoses long enough to add in series with the oem one on top of your crash beem... adds 1 ish litters of oil...
if you leave the car running it wont hurt to add a fan when your stoped but if your not ....
lol the oil wont serculate so it wont change sh\*,

get fog delete and mount a few piece of plastic that guides the air to the cooler.
