SSP Clutch Kit

I will be having my SSP 500 hp clutches and ported FP red installed within a month. I have not seen any posts on here about someone having this upgrade done, the clutch packs that is. I would really like to hear from anyone who has had the install done or knows someone who had it done that rode in the car before and after. I will be using this car for daily driving and needed some opinions from others. Thanks

I'm also interested in this! Especially in the software side of things... i.e. what exactly will have to be adjusted in order make everything work together well...

I know if done properly there is supposed to be an adjustment to a clutch table in the software also. I am just interested in the actual feel of everything after done. Also wondering how long it will last compared to a stock clutch. I know I should feel a hugh difference because the clutch in a RA is smaller than the MR stock. I just never hear anything about this besides pictures of it actually being done. After it is completed though I dont see any reviews.

Our 500 hp clutch packs have been in my 540 whp X MR Time Attack car for about 20,000+ hard race miles with virtually zero signs of wear.

Check this thread for more details: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...-part-2-a.html

Clutch pack information:

400 hp clutches are a standard 8 pack clutch set up with a 500 mile break in period.

500 hp clutches are a standard 8 pack clutch set up with Pre-treated steel that require no break in time.

600 hp clutches are a 10 pack clutch set up with Pre-treated steels that require no break in time. The two extra steels, and friction plates allow for greater HP and TQ holding capacity over the standard 8 pack set up.

If you have any questions about any of our parts, please feel free to give me a call anytime. My phone and email are listed below in my signature.

I just got off the Dyno at STM, and apparently I'm making too much power for the setup or the 500 HP clutchpacks need a longer break in period. Part of the issue seems to be that at only 24 psi I'm already at 305 load and typically aiming for 290 load for peak torque is better for best clutch pressure. The car is crazy fast for the amount of boost being run so I'm going to get some miles on it and try again in a couple days.

Any tips besides tweaking the maps for best clutch pressure? I'm gong to rework the tune to lower load values and maybe soften up the boost hit from 3500-5000 to see if that helps. Seems this BW S300SX FMW Turbo (74 Lbs/min Flow) is a monster and the Buscur 2.2L 1BAMF engine with stage 3 ported head and AMS TMP cams is putting down some power.

Now I just need the SST trans to go along with the party!

Its not too much power. Something either needs to be broken in our adjusted. The wheels only put down 300 ft lbs. So at 300 ft lbs the clutch slipped. You might be making more power than that but the clutches only held that much so far.

Good to know the reference point on the dyno runs we tried, luckily the car is moving right along at 50% tps at 20-21 psi with no slip after some adjustment, as confirmed on my favorite back test road. I believe there is some predictive calculations going on in the ECU as well so when it sees torque ramp up at a certain rate it just opens up the clutchpacks as opposed to letting them slightly slip. Most of the SST tables were similar to how they were on the GT30 combo so it was at least in the same neighborhood as that torque wise, hard to really pin down any torque numbers from the dyno if the ECU opened the clutchpacks prematurely.

SSP has worked with me some more on the ECU tuning so that I can fast track to the most aggressive settings that we'll probably need for this engine/turbo combo. I'll see you at STM shortly for alignment and then a re-visit on the dyno, should be much more productive!

We have several official SSP installation shops for our clutches and tuning. You can also send us your transmission and we will do the install in-house.

My car is using FP red with 2.2HKS Stroker kit. My car is tuned by Eric and has no slip or any issues using the 500HP clutch pack.
