It has nothing to do with the fact I work for SSP and I'm defending our product but I have had no issues with our clutch packs on any of my customers installs.

There are a lot of factors involved and you would have had nothing corrected by using Dodson products. It remains as upgrade clutches and steels.

Clearly your issue was either with clutch installs, SST tuning or more than likely, something internal in the SST that was defective/damaged.

Is your car a 2008?

I have a 2010. I don't think there was anything wrong with the transmission more than the TCU being the limiting factor. I am not here to bash any product. In my opinion the drivability was better with the stock clutches. In my situation what works best for me was to swap the transmission. I only posted this to let people know that it is possible if it was something they wanted.

I hope that all the tuning limitations with the TCU are worked out along with tons of upgrade transmission internals, because I really loved the transmission in stock form. The concept of an auto-manual transmission that performs the way it does is genius. I just was tired of trying new things with limited success. I wanted my car back and now I have it.

That's pretty awesome. Ive seen an VIII go from a manual to auto, but never an auto to a manual...especially a X. Best of luck with that beast. Glad its working better for you

Definitely, to each their own. It's just strange you had drivability issues with our product when they don't change much in terms of shifting. The car should feel stock which leads me to believe there was an installation issue. I currently have the 500kit in my car and there's no difference from OEM (in my opinion).

Either way, very cool thing to see a 5spd swap like that. Hopefully you can get the ECU worked out.

Yeah we got up and running on Thursday. I have been putting some miles on the setup at 15 lbs before we unleash the beast. We still need to work through all of the warnings I have displayed on my dash. It goes back in the shop on Monday to finish the tune and complete all of the remaining open points.

Contact English Racing and they can help you with the ECU. Also I agree with your reasoning, on top of the fact that after your all sorted out and have the SST sold the cost will be lower than the upgraded clutch packs. Which no offense to SSP, but the prices are a little ridiculous for a old school automatic trick.

Well I got about 250 miles of driving done this weekend with zero issues. The car felt great with just 15 lbs of boost.

The biggest thing we are going to try and tackle this week is the swapping of the ECU to include the VIN coding. My new ECU should arrive earlier in the week, then the car will be taken to the dealer to hopefully get this done. I am praying that this will fix all of the warnings displayed currently. After this issue is solved we will continue with the tuning.

The plan is to have all of this stuff completed the beginning of the following week.

Old school automatic trick? Clutches need to be upgraded on any transmission platform as power increases. The cost to develop/manufacture these clutches are very costly. We are still more economical than going with Dodson.

Off topic, I only chimed in to see why his SSP products didn't work because its extremely rare. I'm going to stay out and keep the info going for the 5spd swap!

For less money you could have upgraded the top of the line Dodson upgrade kit.
Excuse me, where can I find the thread about SST being cracked?

Been running the car the last couple of weeks with the MR ECU and 15 lbs of boost. I have put about 900 miles on the new setup and it has been running flawlessly minus the warnings on the dash. I am not really sure what the status of the s-AWC and AYC are. Haven't noticed any problems in the drivability just the pesty warnings.

I purchased a used GSR ECU and the dealer could not VIN code it because it was not new, so I mailed it to Kozmic motorsports for a little help. As soon as we get the ECU gremlins worked out we will recommence with the tuning efforts. The plan is to take this baby above 30 lbs for some real power. I hope to have the ECU back by the end of the week.
