SST to 5 Speed Conversion Completed
Been there and done that over the last 2 years. I have already installed every SSP product with no real success. I was tired of spending more money in hopes of a fix. With the swap I knew it was going to work this time.
Been running the car the last couple of weeks with the MR ECU and 15 lbs of boost. I have put about 900 miles on the new setup and it has been running flawlessly minus the warnings on the dash. I am not really sure what the status of the s-AWC and AYC are. Haven't noticed any problems in the drivability just the pesty warnings.
I purchased a used GSR ECU and the dealer could not VIN code it because it was not new, so I mailed it to Kozmic motorsports for a little help. As soon as we get the ECU gremlins worked out we will recommence with the tuning efforts. The plan is to take this baby above 30 lbs for some real power. I hope to have the ECU back by the end of the week.

. Should see it by the end of the week if not Thursday. Glad you and PRS are getting it all sorted out, I have everything here to do the swap on our MR, we just have been too busy at the shop lately to do it.
Just so I have an idea, how much power are you pushing out of this thing?.
What was different with the SSP clutch components?
From what Supraboy1 says, I know he's got 400+ hp with the SSP upgrade and his claim is
that it drives just as well as when it was stock. Mostly im just trying to see the differing opnion here thats all.

I am running a PT 5857. The car made 475 hp with tons of trouble with the 600 HP clutch pack and seal kit. We back power back to 26 lbs and no timing to keep the transmission happy. I can guarantee may car did not drive almost like stock even with the best of them tuning the thing. My options were try a different product (Dodson which is relatively new to the MR and still wait for a TCU tuning solution) or make the jump to the 5 speed conversion. Keeping in mind I have already dumped over 35k into my car trading my car in was not an option. The 5 speed swap was the only logical solution for my case.
The main issues were slipping in all areas of the power band and rough shifting. The rough shifting was a result of the limit tables being turned up. The most disappointing though was the clutch slipping. It just felt like the car was being nozzled by the transmission, ever since the change it is a new beast. The car now is free, free at last.
Had to cut into the firewall for the clutch pedal assembly. The rest of the firewall remained intact. The only thing that really complicates this swap is the computer stuff. I hope with the new GSR ecu it will solve all my warning problems.
Tuning is complete. Made 521/375 @ 29 lbs with full boost @ 3900 rpm. I am happy with the job PRS and Mike Atkins did.
Car feels amazing. For another comparison car made 613/441 on virtual dyno.
