Please help! Another SST owner at a potential loss :(
I'm getting a service engine soon light and codes were read at a local Advanced Auto Parts store. I'm getting the P1877 code along with the P1879 code. I did some research and it's 2nd and 4th gear blockage. This leads me to the conclusion that either the Set A Clutch pack seal is blown (even gears) or that my sensor is corroded from metal shavings. These are the most common things I've heard from getting these codes. The car has 20k miles. I just recently got the codes after my tune, but I don't think it is tune related as this really can't be caused unless I'm running high amounts of torque, but I'm really not. I have been tuned since last year and the car was running fine, but ever since I did the full turboback than retune I got these codes about 3 weeks after.
I do not beat on this car as it is my DD. Sometimes some normal spirited driving, but other than that, it is very lightly used. Never tracked the car. Never launched either. I am still running on the factory transmission fluid and filter as the manual suggests up until 30k miles for a change, but after some research I think I might be regretting not doing the change earlier.
I have a full Turboback Exhaust, Cold air intake, and an upper intercooler pipe. Car runs on a 93 octane cobb accessport protuned map. It makes about 300 whp and 290 wtq. The car still has all gears functional and I don't really feel anything abnormal, but it might be just a matter of time.
Sadly I'm pretty convinced that I am another SST owner at a loss here.
Any suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated as I don't know where to go from here besides taking it all back to stock and trying for the warranty.
Thanks

So you have 20K miles on the car? How often you do you put the car in drive and drive it "normal"? How often do you play Mario Andretti and over play the paddle shifters? How often do you change the SST filter? Fluid?
Also no offense, but I love how everyone that breaks their car says... I don't beat on it. Maybe you don't but it would be good info to know how you do maintenance.

That was a lot of help supra boy.. Why do people just say crap and offer nothing? Since you said it seems fine clear the codes with AP and see if they come back. I have way more mods then you on mine and had my light come on and wasn't shifting out of first. After going in bank for 5 min cleared codes and it fine since. I am going change fluid and filter tho, I have 27000 on mine. Good luck
And you know this how? And even so what does it help by saying so. The guy is just looking for help or advice. Or is it just cool to say you screwed it up and your a nob and not try to help at all? Whatever not going take over his post. Good luck
When my trans was going, I tried changing fluids and filter. This didn't fix it. Then I thought it was software problem, and had ams eflash to see if its something with that.
Turns out transmission was shot. I drove around with the car for a month having it intermittently losing gears. What a scary scary thing. I had the transmission replaced at 36k under warranty. It was denied in one dealership and I took it to another one. I will never go to the other Mitsubishi ever again, nor ever say a good thing about them.
My transmission failed and I did not abuse it. Never launched and just driven in normal mode.

Put all your stock parts back and it to flashed back to stock that is the most important thing because it changed your sst pressures.
If you really want out of the car, hope they replace it and just get a gsr through trade. goodluck.

i dont think it really helps anyone describing a problem to lie to the FORUM - to the dealer is another story (for those accusing him of beating on his trans.. not that i'm necessarily saying he didn't).. anyway didn't the 08s have a little more trouble with their SSTs than the later years?
