Question Third Party Warranty

I recently got a "SERVICE REQUIRED" light for my 08 MR. It has 84k on it but I don't feel any real difference with the acceleration so I'm not sure if the issue is too serious yet. I pulled a DTC with Evoscan and it just gave me C34E0 as a code. I know that this is an error and I can't figure out what might be wrong with the car. I bought the car with an ETS intake and an UICP already installed at a dealership who included a warranty with the car.

Now this brings me to the issue of needing to use my 3rd party warranty through the company called "Warranty Group". I have heard the horror stories of denying warranty work but I have no idea as to what to expect from an outside company.

Has anyone dealt with a 3rd party warranty company for tranny repair or replacement?

3rd party warranty companies are actually insurance. They typically are much easier to deal with than the dealer as far as approving claims, but they are as much of a pain to deal with for the shop as any other insurance company. They can still deny repairs on a vehicle if it is modified in a way they think is linked to the failure, however they tend to be reasonable about it. My experience with them so far has been good, other than the paper work hassles and time delays waiting on approval etc.

Oh okay I was wondering if this was going to be a huge hassle. The mods on my car have nothing to do with the transmission so I don't think that the claim will be denied. I was going to wait until later to try and have it looked at by a local Mitsubishi dealer and it looks like the Service message went away. I do have the warranty for another 2 years so I still have plenty of coverage left. Thanks for the reassurance though!

For the love of god dont buy these third party warranties!!! I used to work for a few of those companies and we used to deny everything for the dumbest reasons. Every now and then they would pay a claim but i wouldnt reccommend it.

Look the used car warranty game is a crazy business. There are some good ones mostly bad though... with all kinds of strange loop holes. Most warranties are usually priced aroun 2 k or so. And most likely you will make payments on it or maybe you will pay in full for it. Your best bet if your going to pay for one in full just take that money and put it in an account to collect interest and if you ever need it just pull it from there. Or instead of making payments on one just make payments to yourself and save the money. Most warranties never pay for themselves because things really dont brake all that often on a stock car. And they are banking on you not useing it to its full potential. But to each there own, i only speak from selling these warranties for about 2 years and i saw the mark up on them and how little they were used and how much stuff actually wasnt covered...
