"Transmission Service Required"
"Transmission Service Required"
I recently serviced my Transmission oil, Engine oil and oil filter. I did some testing, went a few rounds around the block. After some time It gave me the message "Transmission Service Required " on the console.
what should i do? I just changed the oils,i didn't do any oil reset, i saw some folks and chatgpt talk about some fluid reset.

Did you follow this procedure for correct fluid level?
There is no fluid "reset" button. The computer does not track miles or whatever. Do you have the ability to pull the trans service code? Do that and post back what it is. Tactrix and EvoScan can do this.

Hi, so I had a fault code
U0103 Shift Lever CAN Timeout
So I opened up the center console and found a connector which wasn't locked, so I cleaned it and put it back that solved the issue and also the transmission service light went.
But I still have a few questions
When I got the car it had some odd work done to it, most of it was simple and I fixed it, but when it came to the transmission, they had installed a performance filter (xrp xtreme racing performance) filter AND the OEM filter too. I began inspecting the transmission myself because of slow shifts and slips, although the last oil change was done around a month ago by a local workshop, ( drove around 300kms after that change ) I drained the oil myself and it smelt extremely burnt, absolutely finished after only 300-400kms, No metal. so i then inspected the OEM filter and then beside saw the performance one the stupid previous owner had installed, I was suprised the people who did the oil change didn't tell me about it or didn't even see it as it was right there with branding, which lead me to do this job myself.
I could not find any info on that performance filter so I decided to delete it. My assumption was it was being starved from going to the cooler due to double filtration, which is why the oil burnt so quickly but I still don't know.
So I flushed the filter, let the transmission drain ( the 2 bolts on the bottom ) for 2 days. And filled it with 7.8 liters of liquimoly 8100 dual clutch oil ( the only one I can find and also the one which was put in before )
Amount of oil I read on the service manual. ( Wasn't aware of the check method which I will check tomorrow), now I just want to know how to make sure the oil cooler and transmission is fine. ( Cooler is warm to the touch when car is running )
Car drives okay better than before ( no clutch slips) but still slow shifts.
I have a launch scanner, and under special function it has a clutch teach in/ re learn option, I don't want to get into it unless I know what to do exactly.
Please let me know what you think should be my next steps, thank you.
interesting so there was a second external filter added in line to the oem cooler? Post a pic if you could. And yea do the level check. Then, follow the procedure to perform a teach-in, there are plenty of resources to show you the correct order of operations, evoscan i think has it on their site, youtube, etc. If this doesn’t help with slipping then your clutch packs might be worn, thus begin planning for clutch job. You might also have someone review your rom data to ensure the SST tuning isn’t wonky as this can also cause poor shifting and clutch slipping, i know from experience using someone who doesn’t know how to tune the sst.
glad you found the service code issue and it was small.
