I will check the oil level tomorrow with the engine cold... I can't think what else it can be. i read the manual and they only say to check oil level and take the car to the dealership.

Did it say in the manual to put 5.3 qts? When I did mine, I roughly put 4.7 qts of 10w30, and that includes the oil put in the filter. I don't have my manual at the moment. For all I know, filling it below the rated level is better than over it.

remember not all of your oil drains out when you drain it from the pan. You will not use the full 5.32qts

I know Mitsu's have been known for faulty oil pressure sensor. Sometimes water gets in the connector harness and causes the oil light to come on.

Also maybe reset the ECTAS computer with the miles til next maint thing. Might be causing it. If you car is stock you can always take it to the dealer.

Which line is the oil level at. Top line/dot or the bottom line/dot?

It comes on when you click the key over, but not when the actual car is started? if so this is how it should be working.

uhm...yeah...every car i've driven before does that. camry, corolla, is350, 300, 330i, it's part of the startup check procedure. as long as it turns off shortly after you flip it to on (or start the car, whichever it was), it's normal. if there's a problem it stays on.

When the car is running the oil light shouldnt be on.....until you start the engine the ecu thinks there is no oil pressure so therefore the oil will be on. (key at the 2nd position)

I know what every car runs a self check at start up. It's not that. The multi-data display is showing the oil pressure light on. the oil is fill to the top line/dot. I will post picuters of what is going on. and i will take it to the dealership and ask. and repost that they said.
