Great to hear guys! Yeah thanks for the r and d. However the more you can work on developing something for the CVT guys would be great and have a ton more interest and sales as I think most Outlander Sports are CVT, and the awd SE is only offered in CVT.

Keep it up road race!

Thanks guys. CVT is all of our curses. Even Mitsu Product planners are disgusted in a way. They are trying to help a little on figuring CVT out.

Would love to see something for the AWS CVT.

Whats so weak about it? I haven't heard of anyone blowing any up, and it's not like 100hp/83tq us that much more power....You can't really 'launch' it and since it's so smooth, i don't see it blowing up that easily.

The chain inside gives way under high torque situations. Some have stayed together and some have blown.

I own an 05 evo so the whole evo X and 4b11 I don't really know about

But can someone tell me why the 4b11T from the evo with the evo transmission can not be swapped into the outlander? I would think that would be the best alternative with 300 hp and cvt

It is a doable thing with whole drivetrain sway but most people do not want to be 10K plus into the SPORT and months of downtime. Instead, 5K and a weekend sound much more likable.

P.S. Did anyone see it at SEMA?

Didn't see it at SEMA, but pictures would be good!

I'm liking my NA upgraded to around 175-180 crank HP, really wakes the car up and it's dropped just over a second off the stock 0-60 times. I'll probably be posting more data soon although I still need to do a final dyno tune with the exhaust headers and pulley for that last 3-5 hp.

If you guys can figure out a way to beef up the CVT chain so that the 4WD models can get some options I would be game for testing. Right now it's my winter and daily driver but once April hits I can play with it more since my Evo X will be back on the road. I would imagine that if the chain is weak then having the part in your hands and re-engineering it with stronger material wouldn't be out of the question. As we all know the factory would never spend extra if they knew the engine was only doing 150-200 hp tops.

I'm in the market for a Outlander since my 99 Eclipse maybe on it's last leg (might have dropped a nut in the speed sensor hole on the tranny). Can the stock clutch even hold that amount of power increase? My Eclipse stock clutch got fired once I upgraded to a EvoIII turbo. I'm hopeing mitsu comes out with a Ralliart edition with a 5-6 speed turbo.

Yes, we have about 4 turboed CVTs up and running for over a year now. We changed the formula a bit and it seems like it is working fine over the long run. Call me if you are interested. If I am out, leave a detailed message with your number and I will get back to you. We can sort out details at that time and move from there.

Hmmm I may have to turbo mine, putting the Evo X MR back on the road today just made me realize how slow it is having less than half the horsepower. :/

What boost and approximate horsepower levels are they running at safely?
