Magnetic number
Magnetic number
I ordered magnetic numbers from SoloPerformance last weekend and they just arrived. I got the kit that lets you change your number around as needed. If your region doesnt assign numbers this is a great way to go.
Check it out: http://www.guerillaprogrammer.com/In...umbers2_lg.JPG

Total price for the kit was $77. I think it looks better than my taping.

For Autocross I suspect they will work fine. But because of the way the body panel is folded the top section has to be pressed down. I may run tape along the outside edge to make sure everything stays put. worst case I run tape on the outside and down the inside seems.
Either way, it will look 100% better than the taping I did my self.

Haven't you guys ever run polish on the windows. It wipes right off with baby wipes or those Windex sheets.
Tweekscratch,
Wat kit did you get? I was checking out the webpage and saw there are a bunch of kits an wasn't sure which one you got because they look really nice and clean.

The product is called "SPS Graphics Autocross Magnetic Number Panel"
My region doesn't allow polish.

No idea, but my guess would be visibility. The rule book specifies how big the numbers need to be and I don't think they would fit on my car's windows. Besides, now that I have the magnetic numbers, I can have them on the car in less time than it takes to shoe polish them on and back off even quicker.

1) Many regions don't allow polish becuase at times, it's very hard to see. When a corner can't call in a car number properly for hitting a cone, it makes those in timing jobs much more difficult when the corner calls in "That bluw WRX on the course". To which, at times, comes the question from Timing: "Which one? There's three of them on the course." (This has happened.) This delays things.
2) When cars are lining up for thier run, many times timing will enter the car number as the cars are in line toing 'preentry' before the run. If the trailer or timing isn't close to the start, they're too far to see shoe polish on a highly reflective window. So either you have to squint really hard (You do that for 200 runs and see how long it lasts) to see them, or if you have magnetics that are in contrast... it's really easy.

3) Because the rules say so.

Working timing can be very hectic when you have cars on the course and they're all hitting cones and getting multiple calls. Clear and distinct numbers on the car that meet the rules make the event move faster and easier for all those involved.
Work it some time. You'll see what I mean.

I hear ya. I actually have worked a few courses and know that you mention it the numbers weren't such a problem but the classes were. Even then some guys wrote the numbers so damn small.
To me the biggest reason to go with magnetics is that I can blow in to the pit, slap the numbers on and adjust my tire pressure in about ten minutes and then walk around and check out all the cool rides. when the event is over, I throw the numbers back in my race box and drive home. Nothing else works quite that quickly or cleanly.
And as KC lays it out: The magnetic numbers, at least these ones, are huge and easy to see. NASA called yesterday and said my line around turn 3 was good.

http://www.rallydecals.com has number panels BTW
(Hope I don't get in trouble... that's my site and I'm not a vendor here.. but at least I'm being honest)

Do you make/stock window stickers that go inside? I would love to get a trunkmonkey sticker for my rear window.
I'm in the process of debadging the car and do not want anything on it that doesn't have to be there. I'm cool with window stickers though.

I got a set of 2 separate white 10" magnetic numbers per side (9 -which can be inverted to make a 6) & 1, along with two 6" letters "A & S" from www.solotime.com for about $35. When I do a track day I scotch tape them to the inside of the rear windows facing out so they don't blow off. At auto -X speeds (2nd gear tops) they haven't blown off the outside.
