I won't be bringing my car to Atlanta. Team Sandbag will be running our second car.... My car should be running later in the year with some unique parts...

Other than that, it's stock! Lack of ABS was not an issue until I got to the challenge with the front tires wearing down.

Stupid question time: Isn't 285 a bit narrow for a 10" rim? Is the reason behind this fender clearance, or am I just stupid?

Narrow? No, if anything a 285 is a bit wide for a 10".

All the hoopla aside, my car will not be competetive in SM. There were lots of factors that didn't show in the results. Vic ran in the dark and had sound problems on Saturday. He also needed a clean run on his last run on Sunday to win SM. Without those factors, he could have beaten me easily. And that's on asphalt. It'll be a different story on concrete. I'm hoping to have my Motons by the time we hit Atwater.

Anything wider will also be taller, not good for gearing and clearance. 10" wheels make full use of 285's.

Here's to sealed asphalt in '06 at Heartland Park

Mhyrr did you notice how fast the DSP BMWs were? I bet it's what's keeping Jeff W. quiet on the SCCA forums

I noticed that Patty Tunnell ran her L2 DSP car only about 0.3 seconds off of Fauth's time running open DSP. Were L2 conditions comparable to DSP conditions?

The other thing I noticed was a huge shift in the Kumho:Hoosier ratio in the trophies compared to a year ago. You have to figure that Hoosier won't take that standing still. I'm sure that they are working overtime in Indiana to get the A3S05 out by the end of April to make it legal for this season.

Nope, I was running the tallish 245/45 215's. Other cars in STU were trying to get the 615's in the shorter and wider 255s from Vulcan tire - hope it takes a week to restock them.

The relatively heavy evo is really under tired in the front in STU. Josh Sorter's STX WRX is probably 200lbs lighter on the same width tire. The M3s will run 255s with 300 less wt on the front.
I thought 245 was the width limit for STU. Am I wrong? I hope I am!

245 limit are only for AWD cars...
275 limit for 2WD cars though not many cars could use that due to fender
clearance. M3s are limited to 255 due to fenders.

Could someone point me to a link for STU rules? I was orignally going to run ESP this year, but if there is a "street tire" option I would be interested

I think it's basically STX rules... with the tires size limits I stated above.

Can you not roll fenders in STU? If you can, e36 M3 can fit up to 285. In fact the top 2 DSP cars were running that size.

That and the fact that Botkin's Camaro was only .3s off of my time on each day. It was by different drivers on each day and dirty on Saturday, but it showed the Camaro can still hang with the Evo.

You can roll the fender lips.. cannot cut the fenders though.

I think you can only roll the lip, not alter the fender shape. But, I haven't seen what the other ST classes are doing to fit wider tires.

Navid , I battled the Botkins all last season. I would win on certain courses and depending on weather. They would win more on high traction condtions. I ended up losing to Henry by half sec for the whole year..
I would love to see what your car could do with less wt. a bigger turbo and that other thing you were talking about.

JT you going down to SD again this weekend? I'm looking for a ride back up north afterwards.
