JGTC on Speed
JGTC on Speed
I finally got a chance to watch JGTC for the first time tonight, and I have a couple of questions that I can't find answers to.
1) what is a Vemac? it won the GT300 race I just watched, and I want to know what it is....
2) how stock are these cars? some of the cars look like modified road cars, and others look very NASCARish...
3) the 300 HP & 500 HP figures for the 2 classes, how are these enforced, dyno figures, restrictor plates?
thanks
-Eric

1) Don't know.
2) There are two groups/classes, the GT500 and GT300 (as you stated in (3)). The GT500 are most NASCARish, while the GT300 is more group N like (relatively speaking)
3) I would assume by dyno figure and the extend of chassis mod allow.
Those are the answers from the top of my head, so if someone get more accurate answers, feel free to voice them...

Re: JGTC on Speed
hello eric, you can find the info at JGTC homepage, www.jgtc.net
1) what is a Vemac? it won the GT300 race I just watched, and I want to know what it is....
http://www.jgtc.net/race/news_en/2002n/020319_01.htm

except for the bare chasis, nothing with their production cousins. also depends on funding; JDM brand factory support vs. privateers using foreign makes such as Porche, F360, MacLaren, Viper-they're on their own. RE-Amemiya RX7 in GT300 is the only non-factory supported JDM brand team, I think.
the other racing series, Super Taikyu, is closer to Grp.N spec.
http://www.so-net.ne.jp/s-taikyu/ JGTC to me is "too political".
3) the 300 HP & 500 HP figures for the 2 classes, how are these enforced, dyno figures, restrictor plates?
this is 2001 regulation; some changes since then, but nothing major. http://www.jgtc.net/race/whats/t_reg_e.htm
hope this helps.
