Michelin or BF Goodrich ????

Alright, I have read the reviews/write-ups and I figured I would ask if anyone had used either of them for Auto-X.

Michelin Pilot Sport or the Pilot Sport PS2
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD

If anyone knows of a better tire that either of these companies make, let me know.

Thanks for the help

BFG, no doubt about it. I have heard of too many thread separation stories with the Michelin's it ain't funny. This is not to say that the Michelins are bad, just I would not go with them.

I just got the Michelin Pilot Exalto's and i am extremely happy with how they perform. They grip wet road as though it was dry. These are a new model that are designed after the same tires used by the Michelin sponsored WRC cars including mitsubishi. beautiful price too!

here are the details:

You do know Michelin and BFGoodrich are the same company and made at the same place right?

What is the separation problem you are talking about?

I had a chance to autoX a BMW M3 on Michelin Pilot Sports. Big disappointment -- not in the car, but in the tires...

Since you seem to be looking for street tires which are good for AutoX, you might want to expand beyond Michelin/BFG.

Consider the Falken Azenis RT-615, the Kumho Ecsta MX, or the Toyo Proxes T1-S.

I get a good deal on these two brands, that is why I was looking into them...

Why did you find the Mich to be disappointing?

They had much less grip than I was used to from the Evo's stock A046 tires. The dry grip of the Pilot Sports seemed closer to the snow tires I used on the Evo than it did to the A046s -- not a good sign when the tires are sold as Max Performance tires.

the KD is much better tire for track and autoX. much stiffer sidewall, less void area in the tread pattern. I have tracked both and no comparison. the PS2 are quieter, and ride better, and better in the wet. the KD also stand up much better to track abuse. the only tires that may be comparable to KD are the new yoko neova and RT615.
