I was running on Advan A046 tires and these are pretty good tires. I am looking for a set of R compound tires.
The lap timer is Longacre hot lap timer, it is bulky. Those bike timer is far more compact and has more memory.
I am surprise too how Evo can do on road course. I used to have a DC2 GSR.

What are you using to time (what brand)

I need to pick up a new lap timer...................I have heard alot of people switching to a motorcycle timer because of its size.

I only have old times from my ITR, non from the EVO yet.

Mid Ohio is fantastic, but it definately shouldn't be a first pick for beginner. I roadraced motorcyles in the mid 90's and did a 2 day DE at Putnam before I did Mid O and it still took me most of the day to get comfortable with the elevation changes and develop a good rhythm. I'd really like to go back before the season is over, but a single day DE there usually costs what a 2-day DE costs at a track like Putnam. I went with the S2K club, but they didn't have an event there this year.

I have had a few high 1:24's at Putnam, mostly low 1:25's. Did a 1:23 there on a set of shot Hoosiers I bummed from a road racer (1 tire was corded). Am going to Mid-O w/the BMW club 8/13-14 and will see if I can beat that 1:55 posted by 992gnt, assuming I can get the instructor to quit nagging. Stock everything.

Shouldn't be a problem beating my Mid-O time. I don't think I'm all that fast, and I would guess I could drop another 3-4 seconds there with more laps. My instructor kept me pretty slow, and it was only my 2nd DE ever. For comparison, I dropped 5 seconds a lap at Putnam between my first and second DE's there.

Since T-2 times at Mid O are around 1:42 in "stock" cars on race rubber, I am assuming that's the lower limit for a skilled driver, wh/I am not. I am setting a goal of beating 2:00 and will be happy with anything lower than that.

I always wondered what a good comparative lap time would be around there, thanks. None of the s2000 guys I was passing wanted to tell me.

That's funny . T-2 and the word stock in the same sentence.

BTW - is the 1:42 a lap record or just a typical lap for a National driver?

Thanks,
Shad

Homestead-Miami (14 turn, 2.21 mile, incl east road course (not the banking) : 1.43.500
Sebring (Full, 17 turn, 3.7 mile 12 Hr circuit) : 2.36.475
Sebring (club, 11 turn 1.66 mile): 1.18.900

All are very amatuerish times, but they're a number to guess around for anyone new to the tracks.
