Lap Time

The best time that I ran on the following road course with 100% stock car except front brake pad:

1. Gingerman Raceway 1:37:05 1.88mile
2. Grattan Raceway 1:34:00 2.0mile
3. Road America 2:48:04 4.0mile
4. Waterford Hills 1:22:35 1.5mile

I just installed Tein Type RA and will see how much time I can improve.

Anybody please post your lap times.

Do you have the length (in miles) of each of those tracks?

Kent Jordan just broke 2 minutes at Thunderhill in his RRE/RRC Muellerized EVO. He won his SCCA race, and had a best lap time of 1:59:96.

Be careful with lap times at Buttonwillow. You need to know what configuration (and maybe what direction too). For example, running the back straight and the sweeper is probably at least 10 seconds faster than running the bus stop and Star Mazda.

Same with Thunderhill. NASA usually runs through the bypass, where as SFR SCCA runs the full config. Infineon has some different configurations, as well. Just make sure you compare apples to apples.

Oh ya, here're a few more pics from last week.

That is crazy fast.....my fastest time at t-hill so far is 2:11, and I felt that I was completely at the limit the entire time...cannot imagine going 1:59...my goal is to get down to 2:09 by the end of this season.

You also aren't running 275+ tires.

Or coilover suspension, also only have 320 HP at the crank, etc, etc....but I'm still in awe of Kent's driving. Says a lot about the capability of the Evo. I will be curious to see how my times drop after race school this winter, adding a bigger tire and wheel set-up, suspension improvements, seat time.

Kent runs on new Hoosiers every time out. That helps too. But its his driving that is the main event.

Nice times, Are they on race rubber or the A046?

What are you using to time (what brand)

I need to pick up a new lap timer...................I have heard alot of people switching to a motorcycle timer because of its size.

I only have old times from my ITR, non from the EVO yet.

Another interesting things about fast times that seperate great drivers and beginners/learners is the CONSISTENCY of good lap times...right now I'll bust out a good lap, then have two or three laps that are off the pace, this is due to lack of concentration and the skill required to hit your apexes dead on everytime, understand the feedback fromthe car microscopically, etc....

My fastest at Putnam has been 1:24. Typically I run 1:25's though. This was with stock suspension and the Yoko Advans. Engine mods is Works P2 w/269 cams.
