SCCA Roadracing

Hi All,
Just got off the phone with SCCA. The Evo will be classed to roadrace in the Touring 2 class effective 1/1/04. No details yet about weight, restrictor plate etc. Very cool.
Cheers,

wtz, Still planning on racing yours? Whats quick in T2 in your region (M3, Camoro/ Firebird, Supra). T2 has some seriously quick cars. Speaks well for the potential of the EVO! Have you sourced brake discs/ pads? Do you know of anyone else planning on seriously racing EVO's? Good Luck, kick some A**

Hi Chrono,
I finished 2nd in National points in the Northeast in T2. I run a Porsche Boxster S. Honda S2000 won, driven by a very good driver. Z-28's are always quick in the right hands. I have sourced brake lines, pads etc. from Coordsport in the UK. I'm going to run SSR Comp wheels and will begin track testing as soon as I get the car.
Cheers,

wtz, Where do you test at? I might pop in and see you! Do you have to stay with stock dics? Wll you do any back to back testing with the Boxter? As you can see I'm pretty interested in your progress!!

Hi Chrono,
Touring rules are in the SCCA GCR. They are very similar to Showroom Stock. We have to run the stock brake discs and I am well aware of the warping issues with regard to the VII. I expect T2 to be a very interesting class, especially in 04. AWD and forced induction have been illegal in National classes prior to this. The most significant new car in this class for 03 is the 350Z. 2004 will see the Evo, Sti and Gto added to the mix. Probably no back to back with the Porsche, but I have laptime data to compare. My home track is Limerock. The Porsche has run in the high 1:02's but I have seen low 1:02's from a good driver/car. If the stock Evo can run within 1 second of these times it will be competitive. Because I'm not going to cage the car immediately, I will have to run with schools initially. I will post with info when available. You can see the Boxster in the T2 photo section of the SCCA website. Click on Valvoline Runoffs. Mine is the white one. Please ignore my results. It was my first Runoffs. Bad start, hit hard by a Camaro etc.
Cheers,

wtz, there was a thread about group N stock discs, they are legal (stock) and he claimed they won't warp because of the high quality iron used they are also quite cheap. Check out the link, I hope it works!
