45 Track Days in EVO's First Year

I took delivery of my '04 EVO RS on 10/5/04. I just went through my calendar, and I am pleased to report that I ran 45 HPDE track days in my EVO's first year. The car has 28,000+ miles on it, and I would bet that 7,000 to 8,000 of those miles were driven on road race courses, including:

Sears Point (Infineon Raceway)
Willow Springs Int'l Raceway (the fastest road in the West)
Thunderhill Raceway Park
Buttonwillow Raceway
Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
California Speedway (ROVAL and Infield courses)
Streets of Willow
Reno-Fernley Raceway
Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway)

It's been one helluva year!!!

great job. let us know how the car held up. You may have already thought about it but if you're going to do so many track days i'd definitely get a roll cage.

have fun and be safe

So you spent approx $22,000 on track events in one year.

ouch!

Wish I could do that!

That's crazy.

I remember way back when you were only thinking about an EVO, then you got kicked off the Z forums.

Nice RS.

Correctamundo! Both pics are from the Corkscrew at Lagun Seca.

As far as getting kicked off 350Z boards, I wear that as a badge of honor. 350Z is simply not competitive with the other cars you see at the tracks nowawdays, EVO, STi, Z06, Boxster, Elise, M3, CTS-V (don't laugh, Cadillac has come up with a seriously fast machine) etc.

Here's one more pic from the Corkscrew

Richard, do you monitor oil temp? Every single Evo in my area (hot and humid South East Asia) is having problems with the overheating oil temp. It would shoot up to 130C in no time, all the way to 145C if nothing is done about it.

As far as I know, oil temp. has not been an issue, but I don't have an oil temp. gauge, so I guess I don't know. Excuse to post another pic from Laguna Seca.
