You can make your own. I made a nice little Home-Depot spec mount for under $20. I mounted it in the center rear tether on the rear deck. If you want some pics let me know. It's a decent position if you have a wide angle lens (cheap at BestBuy).

the suction one or the cage mount? it sounded on their site like the cage one was more for a remote lens. like it couldn't handle the weight.

do you run the cage mount with a standard mini dv cam yourself?

If you have a roll bar/cage I wouldn't bother putting a mount real far back. I only mentioned it b/c you didn't mention a roll bar. You get a much better view from the cross bar behind the driver anyway.

sparco harness bar with ioport camera mount. Works great with my old Hi8 video/cam corder... the ioport mount dampens very well and gives camera smooth caption.

Handles the weight fine.

Check out Chasecam .com. Have seen several people use at local events. Double mount holds 100lbs.

My low buck camera mount

Not the greatest, but very cheap. I have a parts bin of all kinds of junk and found plate that had holes drilled just about where I needed them. I used the stock mount on the rear deck to secure it, then just bolted it to my camera. Here's a few pics:

EDIT: oh wait,t he bolt toward the back of the car is holding the plate down..k..is that plate just made out of aluminum or something? I wonder if i can find a piece of metal like that at Home Depot..

+1, with as small a bend as possible for me.

I just made one of these for a run at the Dragon. Two holes, one for the middle safety seat bolt, the other for a way to secure your camera to the plate. The shorter the plate the better. No longer than four inches for mine. Insert joke here. I used an old tripod mount screw from a cheap tripod from walmart. I can take a pic tomorrow, look a lot like above pics. Too long and you will bounce and vibrate to no end. The dragon is pretty smooth, and picture turned out great, smooth track would be even better.

Camera shot gets driver, dash, and nice view over the hood.

The suction cup mount is the $hit though. On the front window, great picture. One of the guys has one. Even secures fine to the outside of door. He shot a side view ahead, showing front wheel/fender/road, cool picture. Lots of creative possibilities, $75 or so.

If I can make one, I know anyone can.

The Chasecam pencil cam with suction roof mount is great! The lens makes the footage look like the SPEED channel or a live video game. You don't get any of the over/under exposure of an interior mounted cam. You can just keep your video camera in the glove box
