Subie driver's dont mind getting their (our) pretty cars very dirty.

EVO driver's like to keep our cars pretty.

Me...I rally-x the subie beater. Replacing broken side skirts, bumpers and assorted body pieces damaged in rally-x'ing gets expensive on the road-biased EVO.

I run mine and actually managed to pull off a first place on my first rally cross (PGT). ...not to chest beat here.

I took a course and my instructor who has driven (and owns) subies in several rallies and rally crosses drove a couple of laps in my evo and just shook his head in dis-belief at how well a stock evo rockets forward in the dirt compared to even a modified STI. We really do have a more usable powerband!

Question; what dif setting do you more experienced rally cross drivers use???

I have a 2003 EVO with Quaife Front LSD. I think this LSD is one of the best product for 03 EVO. Cusco also providing the Front LSD for 03 Evo. But it's really expensive!! $2,799. See http://store.yahoo.com/hopup1/cutyrslsd1wa.html.
Quaife Front LSD is much cheaper than Cusco, the price is $1475. See http://www.roadraceengineering.com/e...e-moreinfo.htm.

After Quaife LSD was installed, my car became like a Flying EVO!! Especially it became very controlable on the coner.

I went to GCRallyX (see http://www.gcrallyx.com) 2 times. Then I got a SM4 class win on oct.22 .

I guess EVO is faster than STI on the dirt. I hope more EVO owner go to RallyX!!

i find this hard to believe considering the STi has greater displacement and more torque at low rpms...

FWIW: check out all the standings in this race. Look at all the Subies behind me in my very first Rally Cross. It's the car; not me!

The stock STI's in PGT were no match and Russ's highly modified beautiful blue STI in Open class running about 440crankHP only would have beat me by less than a second total, if I had not hit that damn cone! Trust me; I have gone against Russ on the track and he is a better driver.... maybe 5 seconds a lap at PIR. Jeremy a rank novice with a bone stock EVO also did well in the afternoon session.

Do you know who's EVo that is?
He's running 15" an i was wonder what brakes he is running, im trying to find a solution so I can run 15" and some underbody protection as i mostly just do rally cross's and stuff. now that i have a EVo and not a Subie, im having to hunt for brake options to fit the 15" wheels and it appears Evo's dont have many stock options like the STI does w/ the huge subie parts bin...
anyways. if you know and can let us all know that would be great

AP Racing: $3500 for CP 3720 from Coord Sport in the UK

Alcon: $2800 for Alcon Advantage from Ears in the UK

Evo Euro RS hydraulic/mechanical: About $800 I think for fronts (Adam@ Z1 can get them)

I'm going with a custom Wilwood setup on the front, and after it gets built will have a part # from the vendor. I'll post up more about it when I have it in my hands. (About 9 more weeks to go.)
