UD/BD for Evo IX CBV to Evo VIII??

The listing in the new 2006 rulebook looks a little funny regarding the Evo. I don't quite understand what Evo SD means. I would assume it should have been Evo NOC possibly.

Anyhow, is there any benefit to upgrading to the Evo IX compressor bypass valve? It is the "metal" one which is supposed to leak less than the "plastic" one in the Evo8.

Haven't seen this tackled on the forums yet.

It depends on how the EVO is classed.

To update backdate you need to make sure that the EVO8 and EVO 9 are classed on the same "line"

not listed in the Street Prepared sections of Appendix A may not
be updated/backdated until approved by the SEB and published
in SportsCar magazine.
for instance, lets look at the Nissan classification for BSP

300ZX turbo
The 300zx Turbo has 2 lines in the classification. That implies that any 84-89 300z turbo can update/backdate parts. Any 300z turbo that was not produced from 84-89 cannot update/backdate to parts in the 84-89 range and vise versa.

This would allow us to update backdate

chrisw,
I understand how the cars have to be on the same line in the rule book. What I don't understand is how it is written in the 2006 online edition.

Evolution VIII ('03+)
Evo SD

"SD" is not listed in the abbreviations at the beginning of that Appendix. Anyone have any insight into this?

for reference the rules can be downloaded here

ok...got a little update

It looks like the Evo (GSR & MR) will be listed on one line while the SD is supposed to be the RS. So UD/BD between GSR & MR is ok, but not ok with RS. And I think the listing will change to Lancer Evolution, which I believe will encompass the VIII and IX with the RS on its own line.

It'll probably be:
Lancer Evolution
Evo RS

So, anyone know who has Evo IX blow off valves for a good price? Are they worth it?

Well that makes a lot of sense. Why would the single out the RS?

maybe due to the light weight doors and such.

I'd take a 9 over a RS for autocross anyday.

I think I'd rather have the RS just because of the weight reduction but that's just my personal opinion.

That's too bad, in '04 I ran the RS trunk bar and stripped out the trunk for ESP. You also could've ran the lighter headlights, remove the rear wiper, etc. I wonder if the GS C4s are on the same line as vettes?

I just had an epiphany into how the SEB might be thinking...I bet the BSP BMW M3 LTW isn't on the same line as standard E36M3s. If so, they are equating the RS to the LTW now that they are in the same class.

My 03 GSR weighed 3109 on corner weighing scales with coilovers, AMS TBE, Braille battery, no spare or jack, no trunk trim, stock wheels, Hankook RS-2's, and 1/4 tank of gas. Plus, I have AC and power windows. Take that RS!
