Adjusting ride height

Hopefully this won't be too lame: Do you need to have the car realigned after adjusting the ride height?

We (meaning my mechanic) installed coilovers (KSports), adjusted the ride height and did an alignment on my car earlier this week. Everything generally seems good, but under extreme conditions I'm getting a little rub. Not sure how much, but I can hear it and I assume any is too much. I would like to raise the front and back a 1/4". Will this require a realign?

TIA

You don't HAVE to, but it helps doing it anytime...even factory settings are a little off. I lowered my OZ with S-techs, and after the alignment it handled 100% better.

Edit...try to see what the car handles like...if not satisfied after you raise it, then do it.

IMHO, yes.

On the EVO, changing the ride height can change the camber, which dramatically changes the toe on the front wheels. The toe changes will kill your tires

(been there done that)

Just spoke with Rick (the mechanic, aka Mr. Wizard). He basic said the same thing as Chrisw), particularly the toe part. He asked about the conditions and said to bring the car in later next week so he could throw it on the rack and see how much rubbing is really going on. If we do raise the car I think we will start with an eight of an inch.

The car is not going to explode or anything. I just would like to get everything setup perfectly. This car is just to freaking good to do otherwise.

Another question: Raising the car will involve pushing the spring purches up. What affect will that have?

With K-sports you can spin the bottom clevis down to change the ride height without effecting the spring tension. This would be a bigger pain than just turning the spring colars up. Turning the spring colars will effect your corner weights.

How's the ride compared to stock? Did you get the 9K & 7K spring rates? Was the front strut alot shorter than stock?

Right now I'm 2" lower all the way around. Rick has the lower collars (don't know the proper name) raised up as far as he is willing to go (1/2 way up). He did not move the spring purches though. I have the stock 9K & 7K springs. So far they seem pretty good.

We have not done the corner weighting yet. So it won't matter too much if we move things up a little. In march or april we will corner balance.
