Enzo Wreck on PCH

This probably hardly qualifies for the motorsports section, but it was an Enzo, so what the hell...

Here's a report from local TV news. Watch the video. This guy is a liar and an idiot who ruined a perfectly good Enzo. He deserves his fate, which is likely a drunk driving conviction, maybe more trouble for lying to the cops, and his ins. co. denying his claim on his $650,000 Ferrari.

ferrari won't let just anybody buy their cars either. you have to work your way up in order to get the special models.

Very true. The owner of this Enzo either bought it on the secondary market for maybe $1 million from the original buyer, or he has owned several other Ferraris before the Enzo, and managed to be one of the lucky few go plunk down $650,000+ for the car directly from the factory.

Apparently, one of my fellow autocross racers was passed by the Ferrari right before he lost it. I have a theory on how stupid people own these cars. When you reach a certain point, you start to lax off in your concerns in the world. By the time you can own a $200,000+ car, you are fairly carefree and don't pay attention to the precautions you did before. That's just a thought though.

Cool

i also like how they say that "when you pay that much for a car -you expect safety..." give me a break....the car hit the telephone pole on the rear of the car-not the door, or the front THAT is why it was ripped in half. and why did he lose control??? isnt the ENZO made after the F1 cars that have so much downforce?? hmmm. not that much downforce to hold him on the road at 120mph...hahahhah i love it....and all we have is a "vortex generator" to give us that extra downforce...

Both news reports I saw on TV tonight said the car was estimated to be going 200MPH. I can't wait to hear how fast he was really going.

The idea that anyone could go 200 mph on Pacific Coast Hiway is just ludicrous. TV news will repeat any idiotic thing. I heard the part about the V8 too. There were more news reports on other TV stations last night repeating the 200 mph BS and as well as the story about the mysterious German driver who ran away. I have now heard the value of the car as high as $1.2 million.

I think he went airborne due to lack of driver skill (i.e., doing something really stupid given the road he was on), not anything wrong with the downforce of the car.
