Grand Prix Of Long Beach... (pics)
Grand Prix Of Long Beach... (pics) UPDATED WITH GALLERIES!
I'm going to make a large gallery of photos from my weekend at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. I should have the first bunch from friday up saturday afternoon. I gotta go through them and resize since they're all taken with an 8 megapixel SLR Rebel XT.
UPDATE! I have finished the first batch of photos. These are from friday and only of the Easy Street Motorsports kickass Subaru STI widebody. Its one hell of a car.
Unfortunately today (Sunday) during the main race they had some STUPID regulations against the Subaru. First.... they were limited on boost. Second, the Vettes were 200lbs lighter due to rules. THIRD!!!! They were subjected to only use 275 width tires.... but the Nissan Skyline could use 305 width tires even though they both had the same weight. Also, the Skyline was allowed to run more boost! Oh... and they made Subaru remove their "anti-lag".
Bah!!! They still finished 18th due to their great driver Sheehan and a sweet car built by Easy Street Motorsports. This was their first track event at this level and the first time they've competed with this brand new car.

More photo galleries of the entire day Friday. Including Grand American racers, the crazy *** drift racers (find the series of photos where the S2000 goes too wide and slams the wall while doing a left turning drift!), and some more subaru photo's while on the track.
http://www.kalionzes.com/grandprix2006/Friday_Gallery/ (200 photos)
Tomorrow I'll have champ car practice photos, celebrity race (bumper cars)... yes.... TONS of accidents, and a badass flyby by a Boeing C-17 Globemaster who buzzed the track and then did a total 90' banked turn to wow the crowds.
If i have time i'll try to get together all the photos from the final day including Champ Car Racing, Speed GT, an 4 jet F-18 fly-by, and some shots of come pretty hot Tecate Beer girls!

So for now... enjoy this shot of the Subaru Speed GT STi. I spent most of the day with the Subaru team helping them with timing various turns on the track so they can get their Sheehan's car dialed in for the race on Sunday.
... SICK!!

in advance!
Nice pic! I wanted to head down there this weekend, but the cost of some tickets is going towards my cam and ARP stud install on Sunday. Keep us posted on the events the next few days. Thanks.

We had some parts show up late and then when we finally got them and installed them our new gearbox had an internal leak that required a change during the final practice. Bottom line...I will be going out in qualifying for the first time and will have to learn a new track and put in a hopefully decent time. We then race at 4 today PST.
I'm just happy to have her up and running

Just in case anyone can't get to a TV, you can see the timing live here:

). I promise to do better next time! (I couldn't do worse)
