5pt harness with stock seats

Ok, this might sound like a dumb question, but is it possible to cut the lower seat cushion for a 5pt harness or is there bracing in the way to run the belt? I have a harness bar and 4 of the 5 points right now (just for autocross) and want to add the 5th point. I drive the car on the street daily and want to use the stock seat belts so a race seat doesn't really work well (since the stock belt won't work). Anybody do this yet?

Construct a bar that goes between the front two floor seat bolts. Put a loop or a bracket of some kind in the center of the bar and bolt the submarine belt to the bar.

But you want it to come up through the seat, not around the front. So did you just cut a slit in your seat?

I run stock belts with a race shell, you just use the stock seat belt receiver that mounts to a tab on the seat base, here's a thread with some info:

And you could attach both the 5-point lap belt and the stock receiver to the same tab, if you wanted to run both.

I didn't cut my seat. That would be silly. I just ran it around the front of the seat. Its only there to hold the 4 point down.

Bad idea. It is there ot keep you from submarining. If you pull the 5/6th out, you give your body room to slide down, and get hurt.

Nice! I thought about those seats, but I really wanted to sit in something before I purchased. Loving my Pro2000.

Did you happen to weight the autopower rollbar? Did you mount the substrap with a welded backup plate in the floor?

I was looking into harnesses with the same situation you have. I saw that Shroth makes a 6 point where the 2 sub belts bolt to the 2 stock front bolt on the seat mount/floor. all the other mount points are the same as other harnesses, stock side mounts and harness bar or C&D rear seat bolts.

weigh, no, i wanna say with all of it, it's 45-50 lbs.

I didn't weld in the substrap, but instead made a mounting setup (bolt through with solid steel plates/bushings)

ie: it's not going anywhere, i sandwiched the floor in multiple spots and used a grade 8 bolt as a stud for the strap.
