Putnam Park, May 20-21
How did it go? I tried keeping some times for you that morning, but the traffic was terrible and no one was getting clean runs. I tried to find you in the paddock to report your times, but couldn't find you.
It sucks that I ran out of brake pads the day before, but at least my dad made it out. He was in your group with the silver E36 M3. On Sunday he pulled in a flat 1:24. Pretty damn good for his car. I pulled out a 1:23.10 after ghetto fixing my rear camber (somehow got set on zero to positive camber...massive tire wear YIKES) and having my wife in the car. After that I started clicking off high 1:23's and low 1:24's pretty consistently.

23's and 24's is moving pretty good out there, What all do you have done to your car? I would be a high end TTA car, and the fastest TTA time of the weekend was in the 1:20's. I'm sure anything you got for me was pretty slow. I was taking it easy being on Hoosiers for the first time, and traffic was pretty crappy. By the time I started feeling confortable enough to start pushing the tires, I warped the front rotors bad enough to kick on the ABS going into 7 and my day was really over at that point. I've gone in the 1:22's there, but not that weekend. I'd be surprised if I went any faster than a 1:26. Beaverun is in two weeks; hopefully I've got the brake problems solved...
Where have you been?!?! I've been meaning to give you a call. You have coil-overs now or just springs? Want to put them this weekend? I might be available on saturday evening or sunday during the day. Give me a call. The Putnam event was a week and a half ago, Beaverun is in a week and a half. You interested in going to Beaverun?
I recorded a 1:26 and a 1:29 for you. I was getting times for 2 other people so I was limited to what I could do. From what I heard after I left, the pace really picked up later in the day.
1:20! Wow! That's blazing. I know I can crack 1:22's now, especially once I get my alignment sorted out, but I could never touch 20's without hoosiers and more power.
My mods are espelir GT springs, ecu flash, tbe, 269 cams and toyo ra1's. This keeps me right under TTB. I still have a couple points left for sway bars and I think the setup can be competitive.

Well if you got me at 1:26 in the AM, I may have gotten into the 23's in the afternoon - I felt REALLY slow in the morning. I really need to get a lap timer. Properly driven I'm quite sure my car is capable of running 1:20's, I'm just not there yet. I will be at Putnam at least two more times this year, so maybe I can get my act together and put some fast laps in. Those are really good times for your mods, too bad you couldn't stick around and show me the quick way around the track!
Just looked at the TT results, there was a Vette in TTA that ran a 1:19 on sunday, and a Mustang in TTB that ran a 1.19 on saturday! Fastest TTB time on sunday was a 1:21.

As a point of reference (and to keep us all very humble) Danny Popp told me he ran a 1:12 on Hoosiers in his ASP 'Vette last year at Putnam. I rode with him and timed him at 1:15 -the only time I ever got sea sick in a car. I ran high 1:24's and low 1:25's in my stock Evo on Advans.
Yeah, Danny and I were talking about that at the OLA this year. Then of course he went out and ran a pair of 1:18's on street tires with a stock z06 engine on a damp cold track. He drives like no one I've ever seen though, absolutely amazing to watch. If I could drive half as good as him I'd be pretty happy.
Yeah, it was a tough break that he developed (cough, cough) "mechanical problems" and had to miss his scheduled start that day (In the pouring rain) and take a 10 second penalty. Of course it sort of all worked out since he then ran after everyone else, on a dry track, and was a minute and a half faster than anyone.
