Engine oil for track evo

Getting my oil change done tomorrow, should I use race oil such as Motul 300v or Mobil 1 for street use? Do you guys suggest to use race oil all the time?

For the track run mobil1 15W-50, especially in hot conditions. also run about 1/2 qt. over the full line. this will help protect against oil starvation.

you want to use regular street oil when you can, I believe real race oil doesn't carry detergents.

people have been using thicker oil on the track, but I wonder if it is really wise?
why wouldn't thin oil have a better chance of getting and staying where you want it?
sure it registers as low pressure but that is because it is easier to move than thick oil.

let me know what I am missing.

forget what I posted, decided to join the thicker group. right now I am running 5 50 Schaeffers syn.

Any 10w - 40w synthetic oil will suffice and offer enough protection for our use.
Amsoil / Mobil 1 / Royal purple / Redline are all good choices.
If you live in palm springs or something and run your car hard in these hot conditions, you might look for something with thicker viscosity to hold up to these extreme temperatures.

I personally only use Royal Purple.
search on google, and you can find some oil analysis with comparison charts.
I've seen good results with Royal Purple, hence my personal choice.

Again, everyone will have their personal opinions / preferences.

As long as use change the oil before the event i wouldn't worry to much about which oil to use. if it's hot and you'll be doing extended events the thicker oil(15w-50) will hold up better.

But if you are doing just a few laps and not pushing really hard, than as long as the oil is clean and new you won't have many problems

Mobil 1 is good stuff, if you want to step it up a bit use some redline or amsoil. I remember nothing but horror stories about royal purple from back when i owned my truck, therefore i stay away from it. I know theres a lot of reports on line that say its great stuff... but heck anyone can throw up information on the internet, that dosent mean its the truth.

15w-50 or 10w-50 for heavy use.
but ONLY track. Put it in before - take it out after.

Any full synthetic oil, 20W/50 or 15W/50 should be fine.

AMSOIL 20W/50 in the summer.

Spring & Fall events 10W/30 - like the manual says

For all of the other brands (at this $$ level), I thought I read that they start with an organic molecule vs. AMSOIL that starts with polyethylene??
